What causes hiccups?

In life, hiccups are a very common phenomenon. However, there are many types of hiccups. For example, eating too much can also cause hiccups. Or some other reasons may also cause hiccups. Generally speaking, hiccups are a very normal physiological phenomenon, but the serious consequences of hiccups are unimaginable. So what exactly are hiccups? Let’s go and see it together.

Why do we hiccup? In fact, there is a certain relationship between hiccup and diet. One of the main reasons is that we eat too fast or too much, which puts a heavy burden on the stomach. This will then cause diaphragm spasm, which is also known as hiccups. Therefore, when we chew slowly, it can help digestion better and prevent burping from eating too fast.

Food irritation. This part of hiccups is often caused by indigestion, so irritating food will irritate the stomach and cause hiccups. To avoid hiccups, the first thing is to avoid or reduce the amount of irritating food (spicy, cold, etc.), and the second is to properly regulate the stomach and intestines.

There are some common little tricks we can share to stop hiccups. The first is the breath-holding method. This method is not very effective, but it can be tried when no other help is available. Just hold your breath for as long as possible. Then the signs of hiccups will stop. What works best for me is to hold your breath and drink a glass of water. Then I felt the air being pressed down, and then the hiccups stopped. Of course, this method may not work for everyone.

In fact, after reading the above knowledge, what is hiccups? If the hiccups are severe and cannot be stopped for a long time, it will also cause hiccups. At this time, it is best for us to go to the hospital to consult a doctor. Because some extreme phenomena are always manifestations of pathology, and these are what deserve our most attention.
