What to do if your child has a cold cough

What to do if your child has a cold cough

In winter, parents must pay attention to keeping their children warm, because children's resistance is much weaker than that of adults. The sudden drop of cold air will cause children to catch a cold, which is also called a cold caused by wind and cold. The complication caused by a cold is a cold cough. When the child recovers from the cold, the cough may accompany the child for a period of time. So what should children do if they have symptoms of a cold cough?

1. Keep warm

If children have a cold cough, parents should keep them warm and take wind-proof measures for their mouths and noses when going out. Children should wear masks when going out, and their clothes should not be open at the chest.

2. Drink more warm water

Let your children drink more warm water to expel the viruses from their bodies. If warm water doesn't work, you can give your child ginger water or onion water to drink, which is very effective. Warm ginger and brown sugar water or autumn pear boiled water can also have a good therapeutic effect.

3. Pay attention to your diet

Making porridge for children is a good choice, especially rice porridge. You can add some red dates to light rice porridge, but it is best to chopped them. In this way, the child can warm his stomach as well as his body.

Of course, you should also be careful not to let your children eat cold foods, such as mung beans, persimmons, grapefruit, bananas, kiwis, sugarcane, watermelon, melon, bitter melon, kelp, seaweed, raw radish, eggplant, artemisia selengensis, lotus root, winter melon, loofah, sweet potato, etc.

4. Exercise more

The reason why children have cold and cough is that their respiratory tract has not been effectively exercised. That is to say, the children are indoors or are too protected indoors, which makes their respiratory tract unable to adapt to the cold air.

You can take your children outdoors to exercise and play when the weather is good and not too cold, without wearing a mask, to enhance the respiratory tract's resistance to cold wind.

5. Seek medical attention promptly

If the child's cold cough symptoms do not show signs of improvement, then he or she should go to the hospital in time and listen to the doctor's advice to avoid the situation from getting worse.
