What to do if your child has a fever and belly button pain

Many children experience belly button pain when they have a fever, so parents don’t notice it particularly well because some children, especially those at a certain age, cannot speak. But parents and friends must understand this common sense. Generally, children will experience pain in their belly button when they have a fever. Next, we will introduce what we should do if a child has a fever and pain in the belly button. We hope that by reading the following, everyone will have a certain understanding of this phenomenon.

What should I do if my child has a fever and his belly button hurts?

The body temperature of a healthy person is relatively stable. The oral (sublingual) temperature remains at around 37°C, the anal temperature is 0.3 to 0.5°C higher than the oral temperature, and the armpit temperature is 0.2 to 0.4°C lower than the oral temperature. Human body temperature is slightly lower in the morning and slightly higher in the afternoon, with the difference not exceeding 1°C. Generally, a body temperature (based on oral temperature) above 39°C is considered a high fever. High fever is very harmful to the human body. It significantly increases the body's consumption and damages the functions of important organs such as the heart, brain, liver, and kidneys. It can cause a series of symptoms such as rapid heartbeat and breathing, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, constipation, and even unconsciousness and convulsions. This is like adding insult to injury for critically ill patients, who need careful treatment and care.

(I) Causes of high fever 1 Infectious diseases are caused by bacteria, viruses, and protozoa, which are the most common causes. Such as colds, pneumonia, bronchitis, malaria, etc. 2 Non-infectious diseases include heat stroke, tumors, and immune diseases such as lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.

(II) Diagnosis of high fever (1) High fever accompanied by chills and shivering is usually caused by bacterial or protozoan infection, such as sepsis, malaria, lobar pneumonia, acute pyelonephritis, acute cholecystitis, etc. (2) High fever accompanied by a rash all over the body is common in cases of exanthematous infectious diseases. The rash appears 1 to 6 days after the fever, in the order of chickenpox, scarlet fever, measles, typhoid, etc. (3) High fever accompanied by severe headache and vomiting is often seen in meningitis and encephalitis. (4) High fever accompanied by chest pain, cough, and shortness of breath are seen in respiratory system diseases such as pneumonia, tracheitis, and pleurisy. (5) High fever accompanied by abdominal pain. Pain in the right upper abdomen may be caused by hepatitis, liver abscess, or cholecystitis; pain in the entire abdomen may be caused by peritonitis. (6) High fever lasting more than three weeks is common in patients with malignant tumors, tuberculosis, and bacterial endocarditis. Patients with high fever must go to the hospital for examination, clear diagnosis, and treatment targeted at the cause of the disease before the high fever can improve. Simply using antipyretic drugs can only work temporarily, and the high fever will still not subside after the effect of the medicine wears off.

In summary, the above is the treatment method for children with fever and belly button pain. So if the child has a fever and this situation occurs, parents can take the above measures to provide targeted treatment for the child's condition. Therefore, parents must master this common sense, which is very beneficial for their children.
