Children always bite their nails

Children always bite their nails

Some children have the habit of always biting their fingernails. This is mainly because the children are mentally tense and have abnormal emotions, so they relieve stress by biting their nails. However, frequent nail biting can cause tooth wear and bruxism, and can also lead to infection of the fingernails. We should understand the reasons why children always bite their nails, and then prevent them from developing the habit of biting their nails.

Why do children always bite their nails?

1. The reason why children bite their nails is mainly related to mental stress. For children, the normal growth cycle determines that they cannot adapt to the fast-paced life as quickly as adults. When children have to face changes in life scenes and caregivers, they will instinctively become nervous and anxious. This situation is also easily induced when children are sick.

2. There are often triggers before children start biting their nails, such as a disharmonious family atmosphere, tense relationships between parents, frequent quarrels, criticism and scolding by teachers and parents, etc. The act of biting nails can relieve self-tension and form a habit over time.

What to do if your child always bites his nails

1. Talk to your children more often, listen to their feelings about things, exchange feelings with them more often, and have more skin contact. Play games with your children, sleep with them occasionally, and give them warm gestures such as caressing before they go to bed, so that they have a sufficient sense of happiness and satisfaction. This can not only change some bad habits of children, but also be a driving force for children to develop in the direction of sunshine and positive energy.

2. If infants and young children bite their nails or suck their fingers, parents should patiently teach them to take their fingers out of their mouths and praise them for being hygienic. Usually, you can use toys or other interesting things to distract your child's attention, encourage your child to participate in more group activities and outdoor exercises, develop his or her potential, and promote healthy physical and mental development.

It is not a good thing for children to always bite their nails. There are a lot of bacteria in the nails, and children often come into contact with various toys. Biting their nails will cause them to eat the bacteria on their hands into their stomachs, which is extremely unhygienic. Parents should communicate more with their children, give them more love and make them feel warm. When they have something to do and feel satisfied, they will not bite their nails.
