Focus on the treatment of congenital heart disease in newborns

Newborns are the focus of their mothers and are taken very seriously by their families. They pay attention to the treatment of congenital heart disease in newborns. Some heart diseases are very complicated, while others are relatively simple. Complex heart diseases are not easy to cure, while simple heart diseases can heal on their own. We must pay attention to the health of our children and perform physical examinations for newborns.

There are many types of congenital heart diseases in newborns, among which atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, patent ductus arteriosus, and tetralogy of Fallot account for the vast majority. Except for the more complex congenital heart disease such as tetralogy of Fallot, a certain proportion of children with the other three relatively simple congenital heart diseases may be able to heal themselves without any drug or surgical intervention.

If a newborn baby is found to have an atrial septal defect (less than 4mm in diameter) and/or a patent ductus arteriosus (less than 3mm in diameter) during cardiac ultrasound, this is usually a sign that the fetal circulation has not closed in time. It is very likely that physiological closure will occur within a period of time. It is recommended to have a follow-up examination after 3-6 months. If there is a ventricular septal defect, it is definitely an abnormal condition. If the defect is smaller than 5mm and is in the membranous or muscular part, cardiac ultrasound can be repeated at three months and six months of age. The possibility of spontaneous healing cannot be ruled out.

Pay attention to the treatment of congenital heart disease in newborns. This disease is terrible. The child needs to be examined to see what kind of heart disease it is and whether it can be cured on its own. For this kind of heart disease, we hope for a miracle to happen, but not everyone is so lucky. The chances of success are very low.
