What to do if your child has nasal mucus

What to do if your child has nasal mucus

One of the functions of the human nasal cavity is to secrete a large amount of mucus to moisten the dry air inhaled. These mucus are secreted by the mucous glands distributed on the nasal mucosa. A normal person secretes 500-1000 ml of mucus in 24 hours. When you have a cold, the mucous membrane becomes congested, so the secretion of the mucous glands also increases accordingly. Nasal mucus is a combination of a large amount of dust inhaled into the nasal cavity and nasal mucus. So how do we deal with children having nasal mucus? Let me introduce it to you.

1. You can drop a small amount of cold boiled water or some anti-inflammatory nasal drops or eye drops into the nostrils. After it softens, use a cotton swab to gently rotate it in the child's nostrils. After a while, when the child sneezes, the booger will come out by itself.

2. You can gently pinch the outside of the baby's nostrils, and the mucus may fall off, or induce the baby to sneeze to clear it out.

3. First, cover the nose with a warm and wet towel to soften the booger, then use a napkin to roll it into a thin stick and rotate it in the nostrils to get the booger out.

4. You can use a cotton swab to dip some sesame oil and gently rotate it in the child's nostrils. After a while, when the child sneezes, the booger will come out by itself.

5. Families with the means can use ultrasonic atomization equipment or similar equipment that can produce water vapor. Let the water vapor be directed at the baby's nostrils, which can also help soften the nasal mucus.

Although babies have nasal mucus, please be aware that frequently picking their noses will cause damage to the nasal mucosa, so frequent picking is not recommended. But if the baby has a lot of nasal mucus and has a blocked nose and can't sleep well, the mother can also consider picking his nose. But remember to use warm cotton swab first

Wet it with water (preferably boiled water), then dig gently, never use force.

The above is how we can help babies deal with nasal mucus when they have it, so that they can grow more comfortably! But you must also be careful not to pick the baby's nose frequently. Babies are relatively weak in all aspects, so you can't pick it frequently, which will damage the baby's nasal mucosa, so you must follow the correct method to operate!
