What to do if your child has constipation

What to do if your child has constipation

Constipation is a common problem that everyone will encounter. For example, if you eat too little and do not eat enough vegetables and fruits, constipation is likely to occur. Generally, adults do not need to take special measures when constipation occurs. Eating more vegetables and fruits can solve the problem. However, when children are constipated, it is necessary to pay attention to it. Children's intestinal digestion function is weak, and they are prone to abdominal distension and abdominal pain. Long-term constipation may lead to hemorrhoids, anal fissures or rectal prolapse.

The dangers of baby constipation

1. Symptoms caused

Symptoms such as anal sinusitis and proctitis occur because constipation is not treated in a timely manner. Excessively dry stool can cause abrasions to the anus during excretion, leading to anal fissures.

2. Reasons that cannot be ignored

More than 20% of people ignore constipation symptoms and do not seek timely treatment, which leads to serious illness and colon cancer.

3. Impact on diet

Being in a state of constipation for a long time will cause abdominal distension, loss of appetite, etc. Moreover, due to reduced gastrointestinal motility and reduced nutrient intake, the patient's resistance will be reduced.

What to do if your baby is constipated

1. Massage

Use the four fingers of your right hand to gently massage the child's navel in a clockwise direction. This will help digestion and facilitate defecation.

2. Soap bar stimulation method

Use a soap bar to stimulate the rectum. First, cut the soap into pencil-thick strips, about 3 cm, wet them with clean water, and insert them into the child's anus. The rectum will be stimulated and defecation will occur.

3. Radish strips stimulation method

Prepare a small bowl of water, sprinkle in an appropriate amount of salt, put radish strips cut into pencil-thick strips into the water, and insert the soaked radish strips into the child's anus to help defecation.

4. Use enema

Parents can also choose to use enema and squeeze the liquid medicine into the child's anus. It can stimulate the inner wall of the large intestine and promote defecation, but be sure to ask the doctor for advice beforehand.
