What are the developmental indicators for a four-month-old baby?

Four months is the most critical period for a baby's physical development. Nutrition in all aspects must be kept up to judge the baby's physical health. You can observe whether the baby's physical development is up to standard, as well as the baby's language expression ability, motor skills, etc. So here are some developmental indicators for a four-month-old baby.

Physical appearance and growth indicators

By the end of the 4th month, the posterior fontanelle will have closed; the head will still look large because it grows faster than the rest of the body, which is perfectly normal; his body will soon catch up.

During this period, the baby's growth rate begins to slow down slightly compared to the first 3 months.

At four months:

The weight of male babies is 4.7-8.5 kg and the length is 58.3-69.1 cm;

The baby girl weighs 4.5-7.7 kg and is 56.9-67.1 cm long.

Limb movement index

The baby can sit up and try to turn over by holding the hips. In the prone position, the baby can lift the whole body with the support of two hands; the baby can sit for ten to fifteen minutes with the head upright, stable and the back straight; when lying on the prone, the baby can raise the head to 90 degrees to the plane; when lying on the back, the baby can stretch the neck to reach the hands and feet; the baby can flex the muscles below the waist to a limited extent; the baby can raise the hips; the baby can roll from one side to the other when lying on the prone, and can roll from the prone position to the side or to the back.

The above is an introduction to the developmental indicators of four-month-old babies. There are still some differences between boys and girls, which is why we see that some baby girls are relatively smaller. Parents don’t need to worry too much. Everyone's physique is different, as long as you are healthy, that's fine.
