Why is my child's lips swollen?

As children grow up, what parents worry about most is their children's health problems. Whether it is a serious illness or a minor illness, parents are afraid that it will cause more serious impact on their children. Many children will have swollen lips. It is necessary to understand the specific symptoms and causes in order to better treat them. So, what is the reason for the child's swollen lips? Let's take a closer look below.

When our lips are swollen, they will show symptoms of lip erosion, cracking, and desquamation. Such conditions do not require treatment and can recover within a certain period of time. Swollen lips are caused by overheating of the stomach and spleen, which burns the lips, or it may be caused by dry blood and wind generated by the skin.

Clinically, chronic cheilitis manifests as:

1. This disease often occurs on the lower lip, but may also occur on the upper lip. The disease is long-lasting and has a history of recurrent attacks. It is more common in the dry seasons of winter and spring. In severe cases, it can occur in all seasons and persist.

2. The lip mucosa is swollen, dark red, dry, with extensive grayish-white bran-like scales, or cracks, local itching and dryness, burning pain and discomfort.

In severe cases, there may be erosion and purulent secretions, which may affect the function of the lips (they cannot open after adhesion).

Disease classification

1. Chronic desquamative cheilitis:

The red part of the lips is dry and cracked, with yellow-white scaling on the surface. The scaling can be torn off without pain. What is the reason for the swollen lips?

Below is bright red "skinless" tissue. The perioral skin and oral mucosal tissues are usually spared. Patients generally do not have any symptoms, but if secondary infection occurs, local swelling and pain will occur.

2. Chronic erosive cheilitis:

The red part of the lip is repeatedly eroded, with inflammatory exudate, forming yellow scabs, and if there is bleeding, blood scabs may form. The falling of scab may form erosion surface, which is very painful. Patients may experience swelling and itching.
