What should I do if my 10-month-old baby has diarrhea and fever?

There is a newborn baby at home who is only ten months old. He looks very cute and tender. Usually, he is in a state of "fear of melting if held in the mouth, fear of falling if held in the hand". But he suddenly has a fever and diarrhea. This scares the whole family. They are anxious but don't know where to start. What should they do? The immune system of such babies is not strong enough, and it is the most difficult to deal with them when they are sick. Here are some tips for you to deal with these emergencies.

Fever reduction method:

1. Maintain good air circulation in your home:

If your home has air conditioning, maintain the room temperature between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius. You can place the child in an air-conditioned room or blow an electric fan around him to slowly lower his body temperature, which will make the child feel more comfortable. But if the limbs are cold and the patient is shivering violently, it means that the patient needs warmth, so he should be covered with a blanket.

2. Take off excess clothing:

If your baby's limbs, hands and feet are warm and he is sweating all over, it means he needs to dissipate heat and he can wear less clothes.

3. Warm water bath:

Undress the baby and rub the whole body with a warm water (37℃) towel. This will dilate the blood vessels in the baby's skin and release body qi. In addition, when water vapor evaporates from the body surface, it will also absorb body heat.

Diet therapy for diarrhea in children

There are three types of infant diarrhea: food poisoning type, wind-cold type, damp-heat type and spleen deficiency type. Only by distinguishing different symptoms and choosing diet therapy can you achieve the expected results.

Diarrhea caused by food poisoning has symptoms such as abdominal distension and pain, crying and making noise before diarrhea, sour and smelly stool like egg drop soup, bad breath, and loss of appetite. The following dietary therapy can be used:

Shepherd's purse soup: Take 30 grams of fresh shepherd's purse, add 200 ml of water, simmer until 50 ml is reduced, take it all at once, 2 to 3 times a day.

Apple soup: Wash an apple, chop it with the skin, add 250 ml of water and a small amount of salt, boil it into soup and drink it instead of tea. Suitable for children under 1 year old. Those older than 1 year old can eat applesauce. Wind-cold type diarrhea has thin stools like foam, light color, less odor, intestinal rumbling and abdominal pain, or accompanied by fever, nasal congestion and runny nose and other symptoms. The following diet therapy can be used:

Ginger tea: Take 3 grams each of green tea and dried ginger, put them in a porcelain cup, brew with 150 ml of boiling water, cover and soak in warm water for 10 minutes and drink as tea at will.

Glutinous rice intestinal strengthening soup: 30 grams of glutinous rice (slightly fried), 15 grams of yam, cook them into porridge together, add a little pepper powder and appropriate amount of white sugar after it is cooked.

Damp-heat type diarrhea has symptoms such as watery stools with undigested food, grass green or yellow stools, a small amount of mucus, and yellow urine. The following dietary therapy can be used:

Black plum soup: add 10 black plums to 500 ml of water and boil them into a soup. Add brown sugar as needed and drink it instead of tea. Take it several times a day. Orange and Jujube Tea: Take 10 red dates, wash and dry them, and fry them in an iron pan until they are charred. Take 10 grams of clean orange peel, put the two ingredients together in a thermos cup, soak them in boiling water for 10 minutes, and drink them as tea after meals, divided into two doses a day.

Spleen deficiency diarrhea sometimes stops, or lasts for a long time, stool is thin or contains white milk lumps, diarrhea after eating, pale complexion and other symptoms, the following diet therapy can be used:

Carrot soup: Take 250 grams of fresh carrots, wash them, cut them into pieces with the skin on, put them into a pot, add appropriate amount of water and fry them until they are soft, remove the residue and take the juice. Drink it 2 to 3 times a day.

Chestnut soup: Take 3 to 5 chestnuts, peel and mash them, add appropriate amount of water and cook into a paste, then add appropriate amount of white sugar to taste.

Since babies are born not long ago, their resistance to the outside world is not strong enough and they lack a sense of security in the outside world, so these minor illnesses may occur from time to time. I hope this will attract the attention of all parents. Parents should spend more time with their babies and always understand their physical condition. If the condition does not improve for a long time, they should be sent to a regular hospital for treatment in time. I hope every baby can grow up healthy and happy!
