What to do if a three-month-old baby bites his lower lip

Generally speaking, children have little autonomy in the first few months after birth, so they do not have as many behavioral activities as adults. However, some babies will start biting their lower lips when they are three months old, and some expectant mothers will worry about this situation. So, why do three-month-old babies bite their lips?

Babies of this age are in a critical period of development of deciduous teeth. If the habit of biting the lower lip is not corrected in time, it will have irreversible adverse effects on the development and morphology of the baby's deciduous teeth and oral and maxillofacial area, and may even affect the development of permanent teeth. The baby's behavior of biting her lips is actually caused by the baby's lack of security. This body signal sent by the baby shows that she needs a sense of security very much.

When parents see their baby biting his lips, they should try to use positive methods to divert the baby's attention and downplay the issue. At this age, babies' attention can be easily diverted by external things, and parents can actively use their babies' characteristics to help them. For example: "Baby, let's play hide-and-seek!" or "Baby, please pass me your gloves!" and so on. Divert your baby's attention from his lips to things outside.

Increase the chances of your baby biting food. Babies at this age generally have 8 teeth. Parents can let their babies chew some harder foods, such as steamed buns, dumplings, fruits, vegetables, biscuits, etc., to satisfy the baby's desire to use his teeth. At the same time, parents should also actively demonstrate to their babies the correct way to use teeth, so that they can understand the role of teeth and the correct way to use them from an early age, and let them know that teeth are not used to bite lips.

Although a three-month-old baby is not very big, individual situations are different. Some babies develop better and earlier, so sometimes they will show adult behaviors and activities earlier. Mothers should not worry too much, because sometimes you can make your own judgments.
