Why does my baby love to spit?

After the baby is born, some parents of newborn babies will be busy running around, but since they don’t understand a lot of knowledge, especially some physiological habits of the child after birth, such as feeding, defecation, urination, sleeping, etc., we have to learn step by step. Many parents have always had questions, that is, the baby always likes to drool. Is this a disease or something else? What's wrong with the baby spitting?

Babies generally drool less within three months. At 3 to 4 months, their salivary glands gradually mature and saliva secretion increases, so they begin to drool. Especially when starchy foods such as rice noodles are added to babies, it will reflexively stimulate salivary gland secretion. By 5 to 6 months, the salivary glands have matured and saliva secretion has increased significantly, but the baby's oral cavity is relatively shallow, and the swallowing regulation function is not yet fully developed. The saliva secreted cannot be swallowed in time. In addition, the lip closure and swallowing movements are not coordinated, so saliva will flow out.

The period when the baby drools the most is during his teething period. When deciduous teeth erupt, they push out of the gums, stimulating the nerves on the gums, and also stimulating the salivary glands to reflexively increase secretion. As the baby grows older, the coordination of his oral muscles and swallowing function will gradually improve. He will swallow the saliva secreted in time and will not drool. Most babies stop drooling by the age of two.

After reading the above article, we should have some understanding. In fact, drooling is something every child must experience. Many babies will drool after waking up. The drooling will become less and less with the increase of age, but some children still drool even when they are several years old. This is another situation and you need to go to the hospital for a check-up.
