Why is the platelet count in newborns high?

Generally, high platelet count is caused by inflammation and other reasons. If a child has this phenomenon, it is recommended that he or she go to some regular hospitals for treatment and follow the doctor's instructions on how to seek medical treatment to find out the real cause of the high platelet count. After finding out the real cause, combine the doctor's guidance and take targeted treatment measures. Don't delay. Delay in treatment time.

There are two factors that lead to high platelet count. On the one hand, iron deficiency anemia causes small red blood cells, which are treated as platelets when counted by the instrument, resulting in a false increase in platelets. On the other hand, iron deficiency anemia can lead to secondary thrombocytosis, which can return to normal after the anemia is cured. Low neutrophils and high lymphocytes are common manifestations in children. This is abnormal in adults, but normal in children.

The normal range in the human body is (100-300)*10 to the power of 9/liter. Its physiological functions are to stop bleeding, coagulate blood, repair damaged blood vessels and prevent blood outflow. The following diseases should be excluded when platelets are high: Essential thrombocythemia: Treatment: platelet removal; oral or intravenous radioactive P32; chemotherapy. Secondary (reactive) thrombocythemia: The most common causes are bleeding, tissue inflammation and necrosis, malignancy, iron deficiency, post-splenectomy, Kawasaki disease, etc.

Diagnosis and treatment of Kawasaki disease: Diagnostic criteria: In addition to increased platelet count, there are also: fever for more than 5 days; bilateral conjunctival congestion; straw tongue, chapped lips; rash; swollen lymph nodes in the neck. Treatment: large amounts of intravenous immunoglobulin and long-term use of aspirin. It is recommended to go to a large hospital for a thorough checkup to avoid delays.

Newborns are too weak and are easily invaded by external viruses. It is normal for young children to be infected with diseases. If a young child shows any particularly abnormal behavior, be sure to take the newborn to a regular hospital for a comprehensive examination. Even if there is nothing wrong with the child, take him to the hospital for a comprehensive examination to eliminate hidden dangers.
