The baby's nausea and diarrhea are mostly caused by catching a cold or improper diet. As the digestive system of infants and young children is not yet fully developed and their gastrointestinal function is not yet sound, the burden on the digestive system will increase and indigestion will occur. Therefore, the baby will feel very nauseous and will also have symptoms of diarrhea. So what methods should parents use to care for their children when they are nauseous and have diarrhea? How to care for a baby with diarrhea 1. Observe the condition carefully, pay attention to the stool characteristics, stool color, water volume, presence of mucus, pus and blood, and frequency of defecation, so as to analyze the possible pathogens causing diarrhea and provide a reference for treatment and medication; also observe the frequency and amount of vomiting and the content of vomitus, intake and output (food, water, urine, etc.), mental state and the condition of skin mucosa, anterior fontanelle, and eye sockets, so as to estimate whether there is dehydration and the degree of dehydration. 2. Pay attention to keeping the mouth and skin clean: Vomit residues adhere to the oral mucosa. At the same time, the oral mucosa becomes dry due to dehydration, which can easily damage the oral mucosa and cause stomatitis. Therefore, vomitus should be wiped away at any time and rinse your mouth frequently with a small amount of warm water. Frequent diarrhea can easily contaminate the skin, especially the perineum and buttocks. Female babies have short urethras, and are easily contaminated by feces that go up the urethra, causing urinary tract infection and pyuria. The skin around the anus becomes red and eroded due to soaking, which is called red buttocks, causing pain after urination and defecation. Therefore, diapers should be changed frequently. Rinse the buttocks with warm water after each bowel movement, and then wipe them dry with a soft absorbent cloth or paper towel. After the eroded part is exposed and dried, apply 20% tannic acid ointment or vaseline oil (boiled and sterilized sesame oil can also be used). Do not use airtight plastic cloth for padding. 3. If oral rehydration solution is given, it should be given patiently and frequently as needed, and not in large amounts at one time to prevent vomiting. If intravenous fluid replacement is used, the liquid composition and infusion volume must be ensured to meet the requirements according to the doctor's orders. More importantly, the infusion speed should be observed. Too fast will increase the burden on the heart, and too slow will not correct dehydration. Pay attention to the child's urination after fluid replacement, because potassium can only be replenished after urination. Parents also need to adjust the baby's diet. If the baby has symptoms of diarrhea and nausea, then the baby should not be allowed to eat foods that are difficult to digest. If the baby has already started eating complementary foods, then stop feeding complementary foods at this time. The baby should continue to eat breast milk or drink some milk diluted with water, and then give the baby some rice soup or porridge after the baby gets better. |
