What are the examination items for hernia in children?

Many people don’t know much about the examination items for pediatric hernia, because you usually don’t take the initiative to learn about this knowledge. However, as a parent, you must know this knowledge, because if you don’t understand it, it may delay your child’s treatment time, which is very irresponsible for your child, and you certainly want your child to be healthy.

Tests for hernia include:

1. For patients with umbilical hernia without complications, electrocardiogram and liver function tests are mainly performed;

2. For patients with other lung and abdominal diseases whose diagnosis is unclear, the examination program may include electrocardiogram, liver function test, blood creatinine, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and ultrasound examination of gastrointestinal diseases.

Hernia is a common disease in pediatric surgery, which mainly manifests as a swelling in the groin shortly after birth. In addition to being able to see or feel the swelling, some hernias may even drop to the scrotum area.

Most of these lumps appear after the child cries, coughs, sneezes, stands for a long time or exercises vigorously, but will disappear naturally after the child lies down or rests.

Children with hernia may also experience constipation, loss of appetite, spitting up, and some may become prone to crying and restlessness. Most of them are discovered at 2 to 3 months old, but some are not discovered until 1 to 2 years old.

Both boys and girls can suffer from hernia, but boys are more likely to suffer from it than girls. Premature babies are also more likely to suffer from this disease, and it may occur on both sides. The best time to treat it is before the age of three or four.

The biggest danger of pediatric hernia is when the child cries violently or suddenly exerts force, the intra-abdominal pressure suddenly increases, the abdominal intestinal tube protrudes too much, or some children use hernia belts for a long time, which causes the hernia sac neck to be frequently rubbed and become thickened and tough, making it impossible to return the hernia contents. Children should go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment immediately.

If the incarceration lasts too long, it may cause serious complications such as intestinal necrosis. At this time, emergency surgery will be much more risky.

After reading the above explanation, you must know what examination items are included in pediatric hernia. Then, you can save time when you take your child for examination in the future, and you can also adjust your child very easily. This will definitely be easier for parents. After all, raising a child must be very hard.
