What should I pay attention to after hernia surgery in children?

Many people know that when a child suffers from hernia, surgery is required for treatment. However, most parents do not know that examination and care of children after hernia surgery is also very important. If they do not pay attention to the care, it will easily cause hernia recurrence in children. So today we will find out what issues we should pay attention to after hernia surgery?

1. After treatment, pay attention to protecting the wound, especially for infants and young children. Do not let the children pull off the gauze covering the wound; do not contaminate the wound with urine or feces, which may cause infection and suppuration of the wound.

2. Since the scrotum may have varying degrees of swelling after the operation, it will generally subside in 2 to 3 days. If the swelling does not subside and becomes hard, there may be blood stasis, so please ask a doctor to check. If the swelling and hardening no longer develop, the blood stasis will slowly be absorbed.

3. Because the wound will have varying degrees of pain after the effect of the anesthetic wears off after the operation, you should coax the child more or divert his attention, and try to avoid crying and making a fuss. If the crying does not stop, you can inject or take oral sedatives to let the child sleep quietly.

4. After the operation, the child should sleep on his side and use a soft cotton diaper folded into a long strip to clamp the perineum. If the operation is on the right side, the child should lie on his left side. Once he urinates, it will not be on the gauze and contaminate the wound.

5. Eat easily digestible foods rich in fiber to keep bowel movements smooth. When your child has dry stools, do not let him or her strain to defecate. Don't let your child cough loudly. Children with cough should take appropriate cough suppressants under the guidance of a doctor. Avoid letting your child cry loudly to prevent increased abdominal pressure.

These are the things that need to be paid attention to after a child's hernia surgery. Be sure to maintain a good and healthy lifestyle, so that the child's hernia recovery will be better. Also, pay attention to the child's daily diet, and try to give the child a light staple food with vegetables as the main ingredient.
