Can babies eat pineapple?

Can babies eat pineapple?

Summer is the season when fruits are abundant. There are many fruits at this time, including tropical fruits, cool fruits, some fruits that can cause getting angry, etc. There are all kinds of fruits. If adults choose inappropriate fruits when eating, the harm is not very great, but children should be cautious. Pineapple is a food that children like to eat, so can babies eat pineapple? Let's take a look.

1. Pineapple

Pineapple, also known as "pineapple", is rich in nutrients, contains a large amount of fructose and glucose, almost all the vitamins needed by the human body and most of the mineral salts. It tastes delicious, sweet and juicy. It has the effects of clearing away heat and relieving summer heat, promoting body fluid and quenching thirst, stimulating appetite and digestion, removing dampness and promoting urination. It is a seasonal fruit with good medical and edible properties, and is therefore loved by children.

1. Possible harm

Although pineapple has many benefits, it contains three bad ingredients that may cause trouble for your baby.

1. Pineapple contains a variety of "bioglycosides", which are irritating to human skin and oral mucosa. So your mouth may feel itchy after eating unprocessed raw pineapple.

2. The "5-hydroxytryptamine" in pineapple is an ammonia-containing neurotransmitter that has a strong effect of causing blood vessels and smooth muscles to contract and increase blood pressure, resulting in headaches. Every 100 grams of juice contains 2.5 mg to 3.5 mg.

3. Pineapple contains "bromelain", which is a protein hydrolase. After extraction, it has a strong effect in decomposing fibrin and blood clots, and is a medical drug. The small amount of bromelain in pineapple is broken down and destroyed by gastric juice after entering the stomach. However, a small number of people have allergic reactions to this enzyme, most of which are "rapid-type" allergic reactions. Symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, urticaria (commonly known as urticaria), headache, dizziness, etc. appear about 15 to 60 minutes after eating. In severe cases, breathing difficulties and shock may occur.

(2) Healthy eating:

1. Peel and dice the pineapple, cut into slices or cubes, and cook in boiling water before eating. Bromelain begins to denature at 45℃-50℃, and more than 90% is destroyed at 100℃; glycosides can also be destroyed and eliminated at the same time; 5-hydroxytryptamine is soluble in water. The taste is also improved after boiling.

2. If you want to keep the fresh taste of pineapple, you can soak the sliced or chunks of pineapple in salt water (the same saltiness as for cooking) for about 30 minutes, then wash them off with cold boiled water to remove the saltiness, which can also achieve the desensitization effect.

3. When eating for the first time, the baby should only eat a piece the size of a biscuit. If there is no abnormality, increase the amount appropriately next time.

4. Do not eat too much pineapple at a time, as excessive consumption is harmful to the stomach and intestines.

Therefore, it is best for babies not to eat pineapples, as this will cause great harm to the body. If you blindly choose pineapples for your baby, the above harm will occur to the child. Although the weather is relatively hot in summer, you should not be greedy for coolness, and don't give your child some fruits with relatively cool nature.
