Are gastrointestinal flu symptoms serious in children?

In fact, the so-called stomach cold in children is often a popular term for stomach discomfort in children. There are many reasons why children may catch a stomach cold, such as bacterial infection or viral infection. In addition, if a child suddenly arrives in an unfamiliar environment and is unable to adapt, it may also cause a gastrointestinal cold in the child. In addition, if a child is allergic to certain foods or certain medicines, it may also cause a gastrointestinal cold in the child.

Children with gastrointestinal colds usually have some obvious symptoms, which may include vomiting, pathogens or other toxic substances entering the stomach, causing the stomach muscles to contract and expel the stomach contents from the body. Diarrhea is mainly caused by irritation of the intestines, which leads to a large increase in secretions, affecting the absorption function, causing excessive water in the intestinal cavity, and increased intestinal peristalsis, so the stools discharged are loose stools.

Some children may experience abdominal pain after a gastrointestinal cold. The pain may be caused by intestinal motility being twice as fast as normal, or by redness, swelling and pain due to inflammation of the intestinal wall. Although the redness and swelling cannot be seen, the pain can be felt.

Children's gastrointestinal colds should be treated actively, and anti-inflammatory drugs are often chosen. For example, the more common ciprofloxacin may be used for treatment, and ribavirin or acetaminophen may also be used for treatment. Children with gastrointestinal colds must pay attention to rest, try to reduce the burden on the gastrointestinal tract, and eat a diet that is easy to digest and nutritionally comprehensive. When children have a gastrointestinal cold, it is advisable to reduce their diet appropriately and drink some sugar and salt water.
