How to care for a newborn baby after the navel falls off

After the newborn's belly button falls off, parents also need to pay attention to correct care. The newborn's belly button should be kept clean and dry. Use 75% alcohol solution to disinfect the area around the belly button every day. The baby's clothes should be changed and dried frequently.

1. If you find that the navel is often moist, sprinkle some talcum powder for disinfection to keep it dry, but do not use anti-inflammatory powder.

2. If granulation tissue is formed, you can use 5% to 10% silver nitrate solution to promote its healing; if granulation tissue recurs, you should go to the hospital to see a doctor.

3. If there is purulent secretion with an odor and redness around the navel, it is a sign of inflammation and you need to go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment, otherwise there is a possibility of sepsis.

4. Umbilical cord falling off: The stump of the newborn's umbilical cord is tied and gradually dries up. The stump of the umbilical cord falls off about 7 days after birth, commonly known as falling belly button. Sometimes there is a little bleeding and moisture at the bottom of the belly button. Wipe it with alcohol every day and avoid getting it wet. As long as it is not infected, it will heal in a few days.

5. Note: Pay attention to the navel during each care. If the umbilicus is damp, bleeding, or has increased secretions, disinfection should be strengthened. You should go to the hospital immediately if any of the following situations occur:

1. When the umbilical secretion increases, contains mucus or purulent secretions, and is accompanied by a foul odor.

2. The navel is moist and the skin of the abdominal wall around the navel is red and swollen.

3. Umbilical hemolysis, or small light red dots appear deep in the umbilicus that bleed easily when touched.

4. Prolonged healing time, more than half a month
