How to treat children's eye twitching

The healthy development of children is the wish of every parent. Although every child is under the careful care of their parents, they still cannot avoid the troubles of diseases, such as symptoms of eye twitching. Although the incidence rate is not high during childhood, there are still a few children who suffer from it. The symptoms of eye twitching can be mild or severe. If not treated in time, it will cause great damage to the eyes. Let's learn how to treat children's eye twitching.

The twitching of the children's eyes is blepharospasm, which is an unexplained, involuntary spasm and twitching of the muscles in the facial nerve innervation area. It is more common in middle-aged and elderly people. It is a neurological disease that causes great mental and physical pain to the patient and also greatly affects the appearance. It does not have the clonic twitching of the lower facial muscles. The duration of the spasm can be long or short, and the spasm is manifested by repeated involuntary and strong eye closure. Many patients with blepharospasm have endured pain for a considerable period of time before receiving a clear diagnosis and treatment, and timely treatment is often delayed due to misdiagnosis.

Botulinum toxin type A injection is an effective treatment for this disease. Injection method: Use a TB needle to make a subcutaneous or intramuscular injection 2-3 mm away from the eyelid margin, inject into the subcutaneous orbicularis oculi muscle at the middle-inner 1/3 and middle-outer 1/3 of the upper and lower eyelids and the temporal side of the lateral canthus, a total of 4-5 sites. The recommended dosage range is: 5-25 units/lid, 5-75 units/eye.

The treatment methods for children's eye twitching introduced above are very effective, but the treatment effect needs to be determined according to the patient's specific condition, so parents need to pay attention to their children's growth at all times. When children have eye discomfort and frequent twitching, although it will not affect the function of the eyes, they still need to be checked in time to find out the cause.
