How to prevent brain tumors in adolescents

Brain tumors are no longer a disease of the middle-aged and elderly. They have gradually become younger and even often occur among young people. The prevention of adolescent brain tumors is urgent. Parents and friends must understand the prevention knowledge of adolescent brain tumors, minimize the chance of their children getting sick, and keep adolescents away from the troubles of brain diseases. Here are some tips for preventing brain tumors in adolescents for your reference:

Brain tumors: They may come quietly

In the past, people believed that malignant tumors only occurred in middle-aged and elderly people and had no impact on young people. In fact, this is inaccurate. Current medicine and clinical practice have confirmed that the incidence of brain tumors in adolescents is no less than that in the elderly. Due to the large population base in my country and the gap between medical levels and public awareness of prevention, the number of adolescent cancer patients is increasing.

Many brain tumors often come on quietly. For children with brain tumors, early symptoms are morning headaches and vomiting after breakfast, but both symptoms are indirect and sometimes do not occur for weeks or even months. As the disease progresses, symptoms such as decreased vision, headaches, and unsteady standing and walking may appear. This disease is the most common tumor in children, and it often occurs in children over the age of 5.

Prevention of brain tumors is better than cure

Brain tumors can occur in various parts of the brain and have a variety of symptoms, but they are all related to damage to the nervous system. The cause of brain tumors is still unclear, but we can strive to detect and treat them early. Whether the tumor is benign or malignant, it must not be allowed to develop and must be controlled. This is the only way to minimize the damage to brain tissue and brain nerve function, and it is also the most commonly used treatment method for brain tumors. Therefore, if you find any of the following symptoms, it should be regarded as a sign of a brain tumor and you must go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible:

1. Headache accompanied by vomiting and decreased vision;

2. Sudden onset of seizures, especially when they start at the corner of the mouth or one side of the limbs and then gradually become systemic seizures;

3. Half of the body is numb or weak, which gradually worsens and shows no signs of improvement;

4. Double vision, difficulty speaking or swallowing;

5. Dizziness, unsteady walking, and inaccurate movements;

6. There are symptoms of endocrine disorders, such as the successive occurrence of high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, male impotence, female amenorrhea or lactation, or enlarged hands and feet, obvious changes in appearance, etc.

7. Personality changes.

Fighting a brain tumor

At present, there are many methods for treating adolescent brain tumors at home and abroad, such as drugs, surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy, and usually several treatment methods are used in combination. In regular specialist hospitals, clinicians will adopt different treatment methods based on the specific conditions of each child to ensure the best treatment effect. Also, long-term side effects of treatment should be considered. Especially for the treatment of infants and young children, surgery and chemotherapy are more commonly used to treat tumors. This is mainly because radiotherapy is considered to have adverse effects on the intellectual development of young children. Surgery can be said to be the most thorough, safest and most effective treatment method.

Juvenile brain tumor is a serious brain disease. If family members find that their children have adverse symptoms, they must take their children to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible. In daily life, let children participate in some physical exercises appropriately, reduce their academic burden, and have more parent-child communication with them; in terms of diet, try to focus on green and healthy food, limit children's intake of too much greasy food, remind children not to drink too many carbohydrate drinks, etc., so that children can spend every day in health and safety.
