What to do if your child has tonsils that are thick

We all know that tonsils are an important part of the human body, which can help the body resist many bacteria from the mouth. However, if the human body is overworked or has uneven temperatures, the tonsils will become inflamed and fester. We all know that children's bodies are relatively weak, so tonsil suppuration is a common condition in children. Tonsillitis can make children feel very uncomfortable, and even make eating difficult. So what should we do when children have tonsillitis?

1. If it is a bacterial infection, penicillin is the first choice. However, due to the high drug resistance of bacteria in recent years, semi-synthetic penicillins and broad-spectrum penicillins can be considered, such as azlocillin sodium, amoxicillin + clavulanic acid, and second-generation cephalosporins, such as cefuroxime sodium, can also be considered. If anaerobic infection occurs simultaneously, metronidazole or tinidazole can be used. If it is a mycoplasma infection, macrolide antibiotics can be used.

2. There may be a small amount of light exudate on the surface of the tonsils, which is often diagnosed as "purulent tonsillitis". Of course, this is not true suppuration, but people often mistakenly think it is suppuration. In acute crypt tonsillitis, yellow pus spots may be seen on the surface of the tonsils. In severe cases, large pieces of exudate may be seen. In this case, it is mostly a bacterial infection, or a mixed bacterial and viral infection. The high fever can reach 39-40 degrees and the course of the disease is 5-7 days. Acute follicular tonsillitis may form small abscesses in the tonsils, with persistent high fever and more severe systemic symptoms than acute crypt tonsillitis. This stage is a bacterial infection with a course of 7-10 days. Once you understand the pathogens, it will be easy to choose antibiotics.

The above are the methods that can be taken when children have tonsillitis. We all know that tonsils are good dust guards for the human body. In addition, children’s physique is relatively weak. Therefore, in daily life, parents should let children drink more water, eat more fruits, eat a light diet, and eat less snacks and barbecued spicy foods. The food ingredients must be safe and hygienic, so that tonsil diseases can be effectively prevented.
