For children, hemoglobin is a relatively important substance. If the hemoglobin level in the body is low, it can easily lead to symptoms of anemia in children. The seriousness of anemia is well known. If a child is prone to anemia and is not treated in time, it will not only affect his health but also his normal development. So, what should we do if children have low hemoglobin? 1. Iron supplementation Iron supplementation can increase protein nutrition by producing blood. Generally, two to three months of conditioning can restore hemoglobin to 110g/L and improve the symptoms of iron deficiency anemia. It is also necessary to supplement folic acid and vitamin B12 when supplementing iron because they can promote iron absorption and they both help to increase hemoglobin levels. 2. Diet adjustment The diet provides elements such as iron, protein, vitamin B12, etc. needed to produce hemoglobin, animal foods, especially blood clots, pork liver, cattle, beef, red dates, egg yolks, dark green vegetables and fruits. 3. Foods that can supplement hemoglobin 1. Jujube nourishes blood Traditional Chinese medicine has always believed that jujube is a good blood tonic. The jujube mentioned here is actually dried jujube. Fresh dates are high in vitamin C, which can promote the absorption of iron and is beneficial for improving anemia. The vitamin C content in dried dates is significantly lost, which is more than 90% less than that in fresh dates. At the same time, although dates contain iron, the content is not high. From this it can be seen that eating dried dates cannot achieve the purpose of replenishing blood. In fact, what Chinese medicine calls "blood tonic" refers to "replenishing qi and blood" rather than correcting anemia. Although some people do not test positive for anemia, they have symptoms such as sallow complexion, dizziness, palpitations, insomnia, and a weak pulse. According to Chinese medicine, this is due to qi and blood deficiency. Eating jujubes can improve the symptoms and regulate the body. 2. Spinach replenishes blood The iron content in spinach is not high, only 1/10 of that in duck blood, and the absorption rate is very low, only about 2%, which is only 1/10 of that in duck blood. The effect of supplementing iron by eating spinach is not ideal. But spinach is rich in folic acid, and it is beneficial to the health of the fetus if pregnant mothers supplement it. 3. Black fungus supplements iron The iron content of dried black fungus is indeed very high, even more than three times that of duck blood. However, when expectant mothers eat black fungus, they need to soak it in water first. This will increase the weight of the black fungus by 6 to 8 times, which is equivalent to reducing the iron content to 1/8 to 1/6 of the original. The advantage of high iron content is almost gone, and there is also the problem of low absorption rate. 4. Eggs and milk supplement iron Eggs and milk are not good sources of iron either. The iron content in eggs is not high, and because they contain phospholipids, they interfere with the absorption of iron. The absorption rate is only 3%, so eating eggs is not very effective in supplementing iron. Milk is an “iron-poor” food with very low iron content and low absorption rate. |
