What should I do if my newborn baby hasn’t defecated for two days?

Babies are more prone to constipation, but it has only been two days so it is not particularly serious. You can still observe for a few more days and pay attention to your baby's performance. If the baby is uncomfortable or has abnormal behavior, you must deal with it in time. First of all, you must understand the specific situation of the baby's constipation and don't make wrong judgments.

There are many ways to deal with your baby's constipation. But the first thing you need to do is to determine whether your baby is really constipated, because sometimes what appears in your baby may just be a false sign.

If your baby only has a bowel movement every three days, but the stool is large and soft, it is not constipation. If it is constipation, the baby's stool should stay in the large intestine long enough to become very dry and hard. It's possible for babies to go several days without a bowel movement, but as long as their stools are soft, they are not constipated.

If your baby does not fall into the above conditions and the stool is very dry and hard, it may be constipation. The easiest way is to add more water to your baby's diet, about 110 grams more. This is enough to soften the stool in your baby's large intestine and lubricate the intestines.

However, if too much water is added, it may have the opposite effect and may dilute the important chemicals in the baby's blood and throw it off balance. If you give your baby about 110 grams of pear water, it can also be of some help. Corn syrup has the same effect, but may have other side effects in very young babies.

If your baby is constipated, you can also give him a proper amount of honey on an empty stomach every morning. Mom and dad can use the palm of their right hand to gently massage the baby's right lower abdomen upward around the navel in a clockwise direction for more than ten times to achieve the effect of peristalsis of the intestines and laxative, and avoid giving the baby any medicine.

After listening to my introduction above, I believe that all parents have a preliminary understanding of the baby's constipation. In normal times, you should pay more attention to your child's diet. Because the stomach and intestines of newborns are not fully developed, they need careful care. Parents must pay special attention to it.
