Is it normal for a baby girl to have leucorrhea? How to provide care

Nowadays, many newborn baby girls occasionally have leucorrhea in their vagina, which makes many new parents feel incredible. It is abnormal for babies to have leucorrhea, because in most people's definition, only adults have leucorrhea. In fact, leucorrhea in baby girls is a normal physiological characteristic, and it is also a manifestation after birth. As long as diapers are changed frequently, it will disappear soon. If there is a lot of leucorrhea, you need to go to the hospital for examination.

Will newborns also have "leucorrhea" ?

This is incredible to many parents. In addition to "leucorrhea", newborns are also likely to have "menstruation".

"Newly born baby girls often have white mucus on their diapers and vaginal openings, which is called "leucorrhea". In addition, a small number of baby girls have bloody vaginal discharge about a week after birth, which lasts for 2-3 days and is very similar to menstruation. People call it "false menstruation". This kind of leucorrhea and false menstruation is caused by the stimulation of the fetus's endometrium and vaginal mucosa in the late pregnancy of the mother. When the estrogen from the mother is suddenly interrupted after birth, it can cause the endometrium and hyperplastic vaginal mucosa to fall off, forming leucorrhea and menstruation similar to adults. This is just a temporary physiological phenomenon and does not require any drug treatment, but pay attention to the cleanliness of the vulva and change diapers frequently. It will disappear quickly after a few days."

Vaginal Care

1. Change diapers from time to time : a clean, fresh and breathable environment is the most ideal environment for the vagina. The baby girl has not yet left diapers, so whether using diapers or disposable diapers, you should choose those that are breathable, safe and hygienic.

Mothers must remember to change diapers in time after defecation. The opening of the urethra is directly connected to the internal organs. The residual components of urine will irritate the baby's skin, making it prone to diaper rash. If the interference is serious, it will cause allergies and inflammation. If you encounter red buttocks, you can apply a mild baby diaper cream.

2. Wear panties early : The underwear you choose should be absorbent, breathable, made of cotton, loose and comfortable. Mothers, please put full-crotch pants on your baby girls as early as possible to minimize the direct contact between dirty bacteria from outside and the genitals.

3. When cleaning a girl's genitals, pay attention to the order and clean from top to bottom and from front to back. Just use a soft towel to gently clean the outer vaginal opening. Never wash the inside. Otherwise, the delicate skin of the vagina may be injured, which is what every young mother does not want.

4. After washing, wipe dry the water in time to keep the vagina clean and fresh at all times.

5. Some mothers have the habit of applying talcum powder to their genitals, which is actually inappropriate. Talcum powder may mix with undried moisture and sweat and accumulate in the wrinkles of the skin, forming small particles. Rubbing the skin may cause ulcers on the baby's delicate skin. Mothers must not do good things with bad intentions.
