He needs to be well cared for. If there are horizontal lines on the nails, you still need to find the cause in time. Let us learn about the symptoms of horizontal lines on baby's nails.

Main symptoms:

Normal nails are transparent because they do not have cell nuclei. When the nails are not completely keratinized, leukonychia will occur. In addition, anemia can cause the nail bed to lack blood color and can also cause pseudoleukonychia. Leukonychia can be roughly divided into the following categories according to their causes:

1. Guttate leukonychia, also known as leukonychia, is a disease in which opaque white spots appear on the nails. It is caused by mild trauma to the cuticle or nail matrix during the growth of the nails.

2. Half white (proximal) and half red (distal) nails: This is a reaction to kidney disease and is also the most common nail change in dialysis patients.

3. Terry's snail: About 80% of the proximal end of the nail turns white due to reduced blood flow to the nail bed. The half moon of the nail matrix disappears as a result. It is mainly caused by liver cirrhosis.

4. Horizontal white lines on nails:

?Merger's lines: The cause is poor blood circulation or edema of the nail bed, which causes the nail bed to separate, resulting in the appearance of parallel white lines. Clinically, it is common in patients with low blood albumin (<2gm/dL), nephrotic syndrome, cirrhosis or malnutrition.

?Mies' lines: This is caused by acute damage to the entire nail matrix, which affects the keratinization process, so a thin white line is formed along the growth direction of the nail. The main clinical causes include heavy metal poisoning, Hodgkin's lymphoma, congestive heart failure, leprosy, malaria, chemotherapy, and carbon monoxide poisoning.

?Horizontal onychomycosis: The cause is different from general onychomycosis.

?Congenital leukonychia: It is an autosomal dominant familial inheritance.
