Myopia is a very common problem. Nowadays, the number of people with myopia is gradually increasing, both adults and children. Myopia will have a great impact on people's lives and work. Especially for those engaged in certain professions, myopia will limit their development and even lose the opportunity to work in such a job. Therefore, many parents are more concerned about their children's eyesight. Recently, I often hear from people nearby that their children's eyesight is 0.8. What should they do? In fact, when facing such a situation, we need to look at the specific circumstances. Children's vision development is a process and cannot be simply evaluated by adult vision standards. For example, when a baby is just born, its visual system has not yet fully developed and it only responds to light to a certain extent. Its vision is only 1/30 of that of an adult. Generally speaking, when a child is 6 months old, his vision is about 0.04~0.08; at the age of 1 year, the child's vision reaches about 0.2; when the child is 2 years old, the vision can basically reach half of the normal adult vision; at the age of 3 years old, the vision improves to 0.6; at the age of 4 years old, the vision can reach 0.8 (the basic logarithmic vision chart is 4.9); when the child is 5 years old, the vision development generally reaches a mature level. When a child is 6 years old, the best visual acuity can reach 1.2 (5.1 on the logarithmic visual acuity chart). Experts say that if a child's eyeball continues to increase in length after the age of 7, he or she will gradually develop myopia. If parents find that their child's vision is lower than the normal value for the corresponding growth period, or that their child obviously squints when looking at things, likes to look at things very closely, or the child himself says that he cannot see clearly, then they need to take the child to an ophthalmologist as soon as possible. From the above introduction, we can know that a child’s vision of 0.8 is not fixed. This is because a child’s vision has not yet fully developed before the age of 7. Children cannot be treated with the same standards as adults. As long as the child’s vision is within this standard range, it is not considered myopia. So don't worry too much. Myopia has become a global problem. Faced with this situation, parents should help their children develop good habits of caring for their eyes so that they can have a pair of bright eyes. |
