What to do if the baby always has eye mucus

Therefore, eye mucus is inevitable, as they are not particularly adapted to the external environment. It is easy to cause various conditions. My parents are always worried whether their children have other problems. Let us find out what to do if young children always have eye boogers.

When you find that a newborn baby has secretions (commonly known as eye boogers) coming out of one or both corners of the eye, first observe the baby's mental state when he is awake, whether he is feeding normally, whether there are red bloodshot eyes, and rule out other eye problems.

Make sure it's just eye mucus. Every time it appears, you need to clean it off with a cotton wipe or wet tissue soaked in hot water to ensure that the baby's eyes can open.

After cleaning, try to use your thumb to gently rub the inner corner of the baby's eye clockwise or counterclockwise, 3 to 5 times a day, each time for 2 minutes.

After three days, observe the baby's eye secretions. If they decrease, continue to press. Generally, the eye secretions will disappear after a week.

From a medical perspective, this condition is congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction, which can lead to conjunctivitis in severe cases. If pressing is ineffective, the child will need to wait until the daytime and go to the hospital for a small nasolacrimal duct clearing surgery. Parents should not worry too much. Babies under three months old are not fully developed and may have various problems, such as jaundice, pneumonia, etc. These cannot wait and require timely hospitalization. However, the eye secretions can be observed by yourself first, and most of them can recover on their own.

The above is a primitive solution. You can observe whether the child has eye mucus persistently. If it is persistent, you should go to the hospital for treatment in time. First, determine what kind of condition the child is in, and then adopt reasonable methods.
