What should I do if my baby got a bump on the back of his head?

The birth of the baby brought a lot of happiness to the family. There are always various situations when babies grow up. Sometimes they fall off the bed and get a bump on the back of their heads. In this situation, as parents, we must feel sad and distressed for the baby. So what should we do?

First of all, when the baby falls on his head, you should go to the hospital immediately in the following situations:

1. Bleeding trauma on the head;

2. The baby did not cry after falling, but was not conscious enough, semi-comatose and drowsy;

3. Within two days after the fall, the child has repeated vomiting, excessive sleep, poor spirits, or severe crying;

4. Within two days after the fall, bleeding, discharge from the nose or ears, and uneven pupils occur.

Generally, if you fall and hit your head and cause severe concussion or intracranial hemorrhage, the symptoms will appear quickly, at the latest within 24 hours, so you should go to the hospital as soon as possible if you have symptoms.

For the average family nowadays, most babies fall from the bed from a height of 50 to 60 centimeters at most, and the babies usually do not suffer serious injuries. Especially for children under one year old, the anterior fontanelle has not yet completely closed and there is a buffer inside the skull, so the chance of causing cerebral hemorrhage is very low. If your baby falls and hits his head and there is no bleeding but a small swelling, you should immediately apply cold compress to treat it. If the swelling is large or red, you can apply some sesame oil as an emergency measure, or apply moistened potato slices on it, which can help relieve pain and remove blood stasis. For a while after the baby falls, try to talk to him and tease him to divert his excitement, and do not hold him while sleeping. If the baby falls asleep soon after crying after falling, wake him up within an hour. If he wakes up crying, then there is no problem. Even if you fall on your head, don't always suspect a concussion. A concussion is characterized by a period of loss of consciousness and awareness. If the baby remains conscious, there will be no problem. If the baby vomits, it may be caused by fright or a temporary brain concussion. Generally, it will be better after vomiting two or three times, which is different from a concussion. Even if it is a concussion, if it is mild, there will be no sequelae.

After the baby falls off the bed, the mother will feel extremely remorseful, but regret and complaining are useless. The important thing is to deal with the baby's situation immediately and learn from it. Mothers should correct their thinking, be more careful, more vigilant, and not take chances. If your baby falls on his head, you must pay attention to his mental and spiritual state, take him to the hospital for examination in time, and strive for a speedy recovery.
