When a child is sick, the most worrying thing for the family is that when the baby is relatively young, about a few months old, whenever the baby is sick, the baby loves to have a stomachache, either diarrhea or loose stools. Sometimes, I wonder if there is something wrong with the child's stomach, but after taking medicine, the stomachache is gone. But recently, the baby has started to have blood in his stool again. What's going on? 1. Many systemic diseases such as blood diseases, sepsis, vitamin deficiency and drug poisoning can cause bloody stools, accompanied by obvious manifestations of the primary disease. Children's nose bleeding or tooth bleeding can also cause blood in the stool after swallowing. It is often the case that black stools are discharged or the fecal occult blood test is positive. 2. Most cases of bloody stools are caused by gastrointestinal diseases, such as peptic ulcer, enteritis, dysentery, intussusception, rectal polyps, anal fissures, etc. If bleeding occurs in the upper digestive tract or small intestine, the blood stays in the gastrointestinal tract for a long time and, through the action of gastric acid and intestinal bacteria, forms iron sulfide and turns black, resulting in tarry stools. If bleeding occurs in the colon, rectum, or anus, it is usually bright red. Long-term, small amounts of repeated bloody stools can cause anemia and malnutrition in children, while a single large amount of bleeding can often lead to hemorrhagic shock and be life-threatening. 3. Due to the different causes of bloody stools, the bleeding sites and amounts are different. Some may have a one-time heavy bleeding, causing shock or even death; or repeated small amounts of bleeding may lead to chronic anemia. Parents should tell the doctor whether the baby has any other discomfort besides bloody stools, and whether the baby has a history of blood system diseases or liver and gallbladder diseases. In short, no matter what the cause of bloody stool, you should go to the hospital for examination. When a child has this problem, it cannot be ignored. When a child has blood in the stool, parents should first pay attention to the child's anal hygiene habits. When the child goes to bed at night, be sure to wash the child with warm water. In normal times, the child's diet should be light, spicy food should not be consumed, and food should be reasonably matched. |
