Does hand, foot and mouth disease itch?

The chance of getting hand, foot and mouth disease is relatively obvious. Once you get hand, foot and mouth disease, it will cause more serious consequences, such as headache, fever, oral ulcers, etc. Among some of the early symptoms, many people will ask this question: Does hand, foot and mouth disease itch? Below we will give a detailed answer to this question.

The onset of hand, foot and mouth disease is generally acute, and the initial symptoms in children are low fever, loss of appetite, malaise, often accompanied by sore throat, runny nose, vomiting, diarrhea and other symptoms. The fever temperature is usually between 38℃ and 40℃, and the fever course is usually 4 to 7 days. It is rare for the fever to last more than 7 days.

Oral ulcers appear 1 to 2 days after the fever. It starts as small red blisters. Oral herpes is mostly distributed on the tongue, buccal mucosa, lips, hard palate, pharynx, tonsils, etc., and quickly turns into small ulcers. Children will feel unbearable pain when drooling or eating, which may manifest as constant crying, irritability, loss of appetite, and yellow urine.

After another 1 to 2 days, small red papules will appear on the distal parts of the hands and feet, such as fingers, palms, toes, and mouth, and will quickly turn into small blisters, 2-4mm in diameter, the size of rice grains or mung beans, round or oval in shape, with a red halo around them. The rash is not itchy, and the maculopapular rash turns from red to dark in about 5 days and then disappears; the herpes is round or oval, flat and raised, with turbid fluid inside, and the long diameter is consistent with the direction of the skin texture, ranging in size like soybeans. It is generally painless and itchy, and no trace is left after healing. Hand, foot, and mouth lesions may not all appear in the same patient. The blisters and rash usually disappear within a week.

A very small number of seriously ill children may experience lethargy, drowsiness, frequent vomiting, headache, stiff neck, and convulsions. Some children may also show symptoms of irritability, difficulty breathing, precordial discomfort, tachycardia, bradycardia, abdominal pain, cold hands and feet, etc. If these conditions occur, it usually indicates that the condition is serious and may be complicated by encephalitis, meningitis, myocarditis and other diseases. Parents should take their children to the hospital for medical treatment as soon as possible.

In general, hand, foot and mouth disease will also cause itching, but everyone's physique is different. Some friends will have more obvious symptoms, while others may not be particularly obvious. However, when certain conditions appear in your body, you should go to the hospital for examination in time.
