How to treat amblyopia in children with low-power helium-neon laser irradiation

Many people do not know about the treatment method of low-power helium-neon laser irradiation, but we have heard of the disease of amblyopia in children in our lives. There are many treatments for amblyopia in children, one of which is low-power helium-neon laser irradiation. But we don't know how well this treatment works in children with amblyopia. So how does low-power helium-neon laser irradiation treat amblyopia in children? Today we have invited an ophthalmologist, who will give us a detailed introduction on this issue, hoping it will be helpful to the children.

Amblyopia refers to the condition in which the corrected visual acuity of one or both eyes does not reach 0.8 even though there is no obvious organic lesion in the eyeball. At present, the standard for amblyopia in my country is corrected visual acuity ≤ 0.8 or the visual acuity difference between the two eyes ≥ 2 lines. Amblyopia is an eye disease that seriously endangers children's visual function. If not treated in time, it can cause amblyopia to worsen or even blindness.

1. Objective: To explore the relationship between the effect of He-Ne laser treatment of amblyopia in children and the course of treatment.

2. Methods: All children underwent ocular muscle examination and dilated retinoscopy. After amblyopia was confirmed, the children in the control group wore glasses, covered, threaded needles, and traced red; the children in the observation group were treated with a helium-neon laser therapeutic device: the patient sat in front of the therapeutic device, with the eyes 2 meters away from the laser, the lower jaw placed on the headrest, the head fixed, and irradiated for 5 minutes each time, once a day, and 10 times as a course of treatment.

3. Results: The control group showed a slow effect; in the observation group (calculated per eye), among 78 eyes, 42 eyes were cured, accounting for 53.85%, 20 eyes were significantly effective, accounting for 25.64%, and 16 eyes were improved, accounting for 20.51%.

4. Conclusion: Low-power He-Ne laser irradiation therapy has a good therapeutic effect on ametropia, anametropia, and strabismic amblyopia. The factors affecting the efficacy are mainly the degree of amblyopia and the nature of fixation. Compared with traditional treatments, this method for treating amblyopia in children has a shorter course of treatment, faster results and a simple method. There is no need to cover the eyes or do homework on a daily basis. Both children and parents can easily accept and cooperate with the treatment, so it is worth promoting.

How does low-power helium-neon laser irradiation treat amblyopia in children? The above is the specific content of the expert’s introduction to this issue. Many people are worried that amblyopia in children will affect their vision, so we must understand in detail the various treatments for amblyopia in children. Only by doing this can we better ensure the health of our children. Finally, I wish all the children can live a happy and healthy life!
