Some babies still wet the bed at the age of 3, which brings troubles to their parents. Many parents don’t know what to do if their baby still wets the bed at the age of 3. What should they do if their baby still wets the bed at the age of 3? Let’s take a look at it next.

1. Reasons why babies still wet the bed at the age of 3

If your baby still wets the bed at the age of 3, it may be due to enuresis, which is related to delayed development of the cerebral cortex, deep sleep, psychological factors, genetic factors, etc.

2. What should I do if my baby still wets the bed at 3 years old?

1. Imipramine: suitable for arousal disorder type.

2. Oxybutynin: Also known as Urinary Dolin, suitable for frequent urination during the day and night.

3. Ephedrine: can be used in mixed type.

4. Desmopressin: It is a synthetic antidiuretic hormone, also known as Desmopressin, suitable for nocturnal polyuria.

The combination of amitriptyline, desmopressin, and oxybutynin is currently considered an effective triple drug for the treatment of refractory mixed enuresis.

3. Things to note when your baby still wets the bed at 3 years old

1. Establish a reasonable living system

Make adjustments to your diet, drink less soup at dinner, and don't drink too much water one hour before going to bed. Before going to bed, make sure your baby urinates before going to bed, and wake him up every 3-4 hours at night to gradually reduce the number of times he wets the bed at night.

2. Perform bladder function training

Encourage your baby to drink more water during the day, and try to extend the interval between urinations to increase urine output, train your baby to hold urine appropriately, and improve bladder control. When your baby urinates, encourage him to urinate intermittently, and then urinate completely to improve the control of the bladder sphincter.

3. Don’t scold your baby for wetting the bed. Bedwetting will make your baby shy, timid and feel inferior. If parents do not take their baby's self-esteem into consideration and resort to beating, scolding, threatening and punishing their baby, it will make the baby more nervous, aggrieved and depressed, and the baby will often be in fear, which will aggravate the symptoms.

4. Comfortable sleeping environment

Prepare a warm and clean bed for your baby. The bedding should be clean and warm. Change it in time if it gets wet. Do not let your baby sleep in wet bedding, as this will make bedwetting more likely.

5. Encourage your baby appropriately

If the baby does not wet the bed, parents can draw a star on the daily schedule and give verbal praise or reward with favorite things, so that the baby will feel happy about not wetting the bed and the behavior will be continuously consolidated.
