Newborns are very afraid of cold when they are just born, because the temperature in the mother's body is constant, while the temperature outside is not stable. If the newborn is in an air-conditioned room, there should not be too much temperature difference. The temperature difference should be kept at about four to five degrees, and it must be ventilated regularly. Do not stay in a room for a long time. Also, pay attention to keeping the newborn warm to avoid catching cold or being too hot. Let's take a look at the precautions below. 1. Avoid large temperature difference between indoor and outdoor. Generally, the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor should be kept at around 5°C, because it takes a certain amount of time for the human body to adapt to changes in ambient temperature, especially for babies whose body temperature regulation system is not yet perfect. If the temperature difference is too large, the body cannot adapt immediately and it is easy to cause illness. When entering or leaving an air-conditioned room, you should always add or remove clothes for your baby. 2. Don’t let your baby stay in an air-conditioned room for a long time. Even if the weather is hot, do not let your baby stay in a cool air-conditioned room for a long time. You should take your baby outdoors regularly every day, let him breathe fresh air, do moderate activities and games. It is good for your baby to sweat moderately in the summer. 3. Keep moisturized indoors at all times. You also need to pay attention to the humidity in the room. If you stay in an air-conditioned room for a long time, you will often feel dry mouth and tongue. This is because the moisture in the body is evaporated by the cold air, and the air conditioner has no ability to regulate humidity. Babies' skin moisture regulation ability is far inferior to that of adults, so it is more difficult for them to adapt. If a family with babies wants to use air conditioning, they should first give the baby more water, and at the same time artificially increase the indoor humidity appropriately. There are three ways: (1) Use a humidifier. (2) Fill some containers with water and place them around the house. Usually a 300 ml cup of water will evaporate almost completely in about one or two days. Raising goldfish and placing a few pots of aquatic plants indoors is also a good idea. It not only adds interest to life, but also regulates the humidity well. (3) Open windows frequently for ventilation. In addition to allowing air to flow in, the moist air outside can also regulate the humidity in the room. Since the air in the air-conditioned room is relatively dry, you should replenish your baby with water in time and strengthen the care of dry skin. 4. Don’t install an air conditioner that is too large. It is best to have one machine per household. If the air conditioner is not properly matched to the room area, the indoor air will be too dry and too cold, which can easily reduce the baby's resistance. 5. Do not blow the air conditioner directly on the baby. Blowing directly on babies can easily make them sick. In mild cases, they may suffer from runny nose and nasal congestion, while in severe cases, it may lead to bronchitis or even pneumonia. You should find the best angle to place the air conditioner in the room to ensure that no cold wind blows directly on your baby. Do not set the air volume too high and do not use it for too long. 6. Don’t let your baby catch cold. When the air conditioner is turned on, the baby should be dressed in clothes of appropriate thickness. It is best to wear a small belly band on the chest and stomach. Especially at night, when sleeping in an air-conditioned room, be sure to cover your baby with a towel blanket to prevent him from catching a cold. 7. Set the appropriate air conditioning temperature at night. If the air conditioner is not turned on at night, the baby will not sleep well and will have reduced physical strength, but if the temperature is too low, the baby will easily catch a cold. The appropriate approach is to set the air-conditioner temperature a little higher, such as around 28°C, or set it on a timer for 2-3 hours, so that the baby can sleep more soundly. When the baby is sleeping soundly, you can use breeze circulation (use the air conditioner ventilation mode), and it is best to open the window for ventilation. 8. Measure your baby's temperature at least once a day. 9. Make sure the room is well ventilated. Windows should be opened frequently to ensure the flow of indoor and outdoor air. Turn off the machine after 1 to 3 hours, and then open the windows to exhaust the indoor air. At least once in the morning and evening, each time for 10 to 20 minutes. For families with newborn babies, when using air conditioning, open at least one window to keep the indoor air circulating. Because air-conditioned rooms are generally sealed and the indoor air is turbid, the bacterial content will increase, the concentration of harmful gases such as carbon dioxide will increase, and the air quality will deteriorate. At the same time, the air conditioner's filter absorbs too many anions in the air, increasing the number of cations in the room. The imbalance of the normal ratio of anions and cations can cause physiological disorders in the human body and lead to discomfort. Therefore, even if you have air conditioning, you should try to use natural wind to lower the indoor temperature. Here are some recommendations from mothers online: Before going to bed at night, set the air conditioner temperature to around 26-28 degrees, set the timer for 2-3 hours, and cover your baby with a thin blanket. After 1 to 2 hours, the baby enters a deep sleep, and the adult turns the air conditioner to ventilation mode and opens the windows appropriately for ventilation, which is the so-called "breeze circulation". In addition, you can purchase a negative oxygen ion generator to ensure indoor air quality. |
