What to do if your child has true myopia

What to do if your child has true myopia

In our lives, many children develop myopia when they are young because they often watch TV and play with mobile phones. This situation is quite serious. As children grow up, they use their eyes more and more frequently in their studies, which will cause myopia to become more and more serious. If myopia has already been established, it is very difficult to correct it for the child. So what should children do if they have true myopia?

Many parents find that their children often rub their eyes. Sometimes their eyes hurt after reading for a long time, and they even can’t see clearly if the distance is too far. Parents will worry about their children's eye problems and make blind conclusions. Children's myopia can be divided into true and false myopia. The treatments for these two types are different, so parents must distinguish between true and false myopia. Here I will introduce to you how to distinguish true from false myopia: If the naked eye vision can reach 1.0 after dilation, it is "pseudomyopia" and can be cured in a short period of time. For example, medications, acupuncture, ear acupuncture and physical therapy equipment can relax muscles, relieve fatigue and restore vision to normal.

If you do not want treatment, your vision may recover as long as you look into the distance often and get enough rest. However, if the naked eye vision is lower than 0.8 after dilation, it is "true myopia". Once true myopia is formed, it is irreversible. It is an organic change that occurs in the eyeball. The front-to-back axis of the eyeball becomes longer, and external objects are imaged in front of the retina through the eye's refractive system. Without clear images on the retina, there will certainly be no good vision. Except for surgery, no other method can shorten the eyeball or change the refractive power of this organic change, which is why myopia is difficult to cure. Through the above introduction, everyone should have a better understanding of true and false myopia. In short, if you find that your child is myopic, you should take him to a professional hospital for examination and receive symptomatic treatment.

In the myopic eyes of adolescents, the rate of pseudomyopia and mixed myopia gradually decreases with age. Among children under 13 years old, pseudomyopia accounts for 8.9%, mixed myopia accounts for 49.5%, and true myopia accounts for 41.6%. Among children aged 14 to 16, 1.9% had pseudomyopia, 52% had mixed myopia, and 46.1% had true myopia. For those aged 17 and above, 1.9% suffer from pseudomyopia, 52% suffer from mixed myopia and 46.1% suffer from true myopia. For those aged 17 and above, 1.9% suffer from pseudomyopia, 42.3% suffer from mixed myopia and 55.8% suffer from true myopia.

Many cases of myopia are mostly pseudomyopia at the beginning, which is mostly functional myopia caused by excessive use of the eyes and accommodation tension. However, if antispasmodic treatment is not performed in time, it is likely to develop into true myopia in the future. Pay attention to the following in daily life: do not read for too long, and make sure to take a 10-minute break between classes to reduce eyesight fatigue. Blink more often to relieve dry eye symptoms; there should be appropriate lighting for writing and reading, and it is best if the light comes from the left. Do not read or write in places where the light is too dim to reduce the burden on students; actively carry out physical exercise and ensure that students have one hour of physical activity every day.

If pseudomyopia is not properly prevented, it can easily turn into true myopia. To prevent myopia, it is mainly to use your eyes properly, avoid eye fatigue, avoid surfing the Internet, watching TV, and keeping the correct posture when reading. You need to rest for three to five minutes every time you read for about an hour. You can do more physical exercise, such as playing badminton and flying kites, which can effectively prevent myopia!
