How to relieve neonatal colic

How to relieve neonatal colic

Neonatal colic is a relatively common symptom, often occurring in babies aged 3 to 6 months. It often causes the child to cry, especially at night, and often causes severe pain. Because the child cannot speak yet, this often causes parents to be at a loss. Therefore, parents should understand some basic knowledge about colic, and provide timely conditioning and treatment when colic occurs.

1. Simethicone

Simethicone is very effective at the beginning, but some babies will vomit badly after taking it; this can be used for two months, and after exactly 100 days, the colic will disappear and it will be relieved a little at normal times, but the colic will still occur at a fixed time every day, but it will not be as severe.

2. Hot compress prescription:

Grind 30 grams each of costus root, cinnamon and fennel into powder and put them into a bag. Heat it in the "Healthy Baby" mode in a microwave oven (or heat it in a pan and then put it into the bag); bring it to a suitable temperature and apply it to the baby's navel. Be careful not to burn the baby. It is better to apply it through clothes for safety; apply it for 40-60 minutes each time. Reheat it when it cools down. It can be applied three times a day. Please note that you should start applying the medicine one hour before the fixed crying time. The effect is the same as that of simethicone.

3. Evodia rutaecarpa + white vinegar

After grinding the Evodia rutaecarpa into powder, add a little white vinegar and mix evenly each time you use it, and wrap it on the Yongquan acupoint on the sole of the foot with gauze. Apply it after taking a bath every day and remove it the next day. The baby didn’t fart at all, so it’s useless after one use.

4. Peppermint Oil

Apply it around the belly button and massage 1 to 2 times a day. I don’t think it’s effective when used alone. Sometimes I use it together with method 1 and method 2. The strong smell is irritating to the eyes, and the stomach will feel hot all night after use. Don’t cover yourself so thickly when you sleep.

5. Lying on Mom

Put four pillows on the bed, and the mother leans on the pillows with her back, lying at a 45-degree angle, and let the baby sleep on the mother. I feel that this effect is better than all other methods; hold the baby to sleep during the day for 1 to 3 hours, or sit on the sofa, but the mother needs to be careful not to fall asleep and fall on the baby~

6. Salt Bag

Put the salt in a sewn cloth bag. Before each baby feeds, heat the salt bag in the microwave, let it reach the appropriate temperature, and then apply it to the baby's belly.
