Why does my 11-month-old baby have a fever?

Nowadays, every child is the treasure of the family, and parents are paying more and more attention to their children's health. When it comes to health, we should start with the children’s lifestyle and diet, so as to ensure their healthy growth. However, recently many parents have reported that their 11-month-old babies have a fever that persists. Today I will explain to you what to do if your 11-month-old baby has a fever.

Dear parents, don’t worry if your baby has a cold or fever.

First, use a thermometer to measure the child's temperature. It is not recommended to use a mercury column thermometer. The reason is very simple: it is easy to break. If the baby accidentally swallows mercury, it will cause serious harm. Therefore, it is recommended to use an electronic thermometer which is safer. However, it should be noted that electronic thermometers are relatively sensitive, so be sure to place them in the right position before turning on the switch for measurement.

There are some tricks to taking body temperature, because everyone's basal body temperature is different, so in order to get accurate body temperature data, you need to measure it three times a day when the child is quiet, for three consecutive days, and take the average value, so you can get a basal body temperature. Generally speaking, a body temperature between 37.5℃-39℃ is a low fever, 39℃-40℃ is a moderate fever, and above 40℃ is a high fever.

Here comes the point. When should you send your child to the hospital? If the temperature exceeds 38.5℃, first apply a fever-reducing patch, wait for an hour, then open the window to ventilate, reduce the child's clothes, and unbutton his clothes to dissipate heat and cool down. Generally speaking, if the child's body temperature drops, the cold and fever are half cured. Drink more water and have a good sleep, and the condition will be cured in a few days. However, if the child's mental state is still not good after the temperature drops, or if he or she has severe coughing, vomiting, diarrhea, etc., you must go to the hospital immediately. Children usually catch a cold after sweating or catching a cold due to climate change. Viruses or bacteria invade the human body and cause upper respiratory tract infection. Influenza is a more serious cold, with systemic symptoms, acute onset and severe symptoms.

The above is what we introduced to you about what causes baby fever and some treatment methods. The baby's body is very fragile shortly after birth, so as parents we must pay great attention to the child's physical condition. If any disease occurs, treatment should be sought immediately. If the best treatment time is delayed, it will easily affect the child's future health.
