How to deal with baby picking his ears

We all know that newborn babies cannot speak, and many times they will use actions to express some physical discomfort. Therefore, we must pay close attention to the baby's movements. In real life, babies often pick their ears. This phenomenon is of course caused by many physical conditions of the baby. We are going to look at the solution to this situation. So how should we deal with babies picking their ears? Let’s see what authoritative experts say.

If your baby likes to pick his ears, it must be because his ears are uncomfortable. You should first check whether there is any problem with his ears, such as whether there is secretion in the ear canal, whether the skin is red, has rash or scars, etc. Because the baby may be suffering from ear eczema, otitis media, or there may be too much earwax or foreign objects in the baby's ears.

1. If your baby keeps picking his ears, there is a "symptom" that can be checked

2. How to treat the symptoms?

1. Too much earwax: The cerumen glands on the skin of the external auditory canal of people will secrete substances, which is what we often call earwax. The cerumen glands of newborn babies secrete more vigorously, and the external auditory canal is relatively narrow and long, the muscles are relatively loose, and the joints are not strong enough when chewing. Normally, earwax is not easy to be discharged, and a darker, yellowish-brown, very sticky oily substance often forms in the external auditory canal, commonly known as "oily earwax". This is a normal phenomenon.

Treatment: Mothers can use a cotton swab dipped in water to gently wipe the baby's external auditory canal to remove earwax.

2. Foreign objects in the ear canal In daily life, it is inevitable that insects will fly or crawl into the baby's ears.

Symptomatic treatment: You can take advantage of the insect's phototropism, such as pointing the ear of the insect towards the light or shining a flashlight on it, allowing the insect to crawl or fly out of the bright place; you can also put a few drops of cooking oil into the ear to isolate the air, causing the insect to suffocate to death, and then remove it with tweezers. If the foreign objects are smooth, such as beans, wheat grains, small beads, etc., they can be removed by using the paste adhesion method.

Reminder: If the above simple method still cannot remove the foreign body in the ear canal, you should go to the hospital and ask a specialist for further treatment.

3. Babies with allergic skin to ear eczema often have symptoms of redness, swelling, erosion, and small blisters on the skin of the outer ear and ear canal. This means that they have eczema, which is very itchy, so babies like to scratch them with their hands.

Symptomatic treatment: In addition to eliminating the relevant causes of the disease, the treatment methods for impetigo should focus on cleaning, drying and anti-inflammatory methods in the affected areas. If there is not much yellow water, parents can apply 10%-15% zinc chloride ointment or cortisone ointment; if too much yellow water flows, you can first clean the area with saline or 3% boric acid water, and then apply the medicine.

4. Acute otitis media If the baby reacts strongly, cries incessantly, and often scratches his ears with his hands, accompanied by symptoms such as fever and refusal to breastfeed, it means that the baby may have acute otitis media.

Symptomatic treatment: Children with bilateral or unilateral acute otitis media and severe symptoms or signs should use antibiotics; amoxicillin should be used as the first choice antibiotic for the treatment of bacterial acute otitis media, and the recommended dose is 80-90 mg per kilogram of body weight per day, taken in two doses; for recurrent acute otitis media, tympanostomy tube placement is recommended rather than prophylactic antibiotics; treatment of acute otitis media should include an assessment of pain symptoms, and if pain is present, anti-inflammatory analgesics should be used to reduce pain.

The above is an introduction to how to deal with babies picking their ears. If your baby picks his ears in life, you must find the cause of the disease and treat it effectively, so as to more effectively prevent the occurrence of more serious diseases. Newborns can also drink more fruit juice that is good for the body. By taking such measures, they can more effectively prevent the occurrence of some diseases.
