What to do if your baby has eczema around his mouth

For every mother, the baby is everything to them, and the child's health is what they care about most. But everyone knows that the baby is young. Some organs are not fully developed. The body is very weak, and the baby's resistance is very poor, which will cause many problems. Today's content is about a baby's situation. What should I do if the baby has eczema around the mouth?

Baby eczema, commonly known as "milk rash" in traditional Chinese medicine, is common in infants and young children aged 2 months to 2 years, and is mainly distributed on the cheeks, forehead, chin and behind the ears. It manifests as densely packed pinpoint papules, vesicles, and papulovesicles on an erythematous basis, which looks like a piece of fine sandpaper. Since eczema is related to allergic constitution, it is prone to recurrence, affecting the baby's rest, sleep, growth and development. In severe cases, the disease may spread to the neck, shoulder blades, or even the entire body.

The lesions have various shapes, are mostly symmetrical in distribution, and can be mild or severe at times. On the face, there are initially clustered or scattered erythema and papules; on the scalp or eyebrows, there are often greasy scales and shiny yellow crusts. In mild cases, there are only light red patches with a small amount of desquamation; in severe cases, there are erythema, blisters, erosions, and infiltrations, which continue to spread and expand. If scratched, rubbed, or washed excessively, the erosion will worsen and the exudation will increase. Secondary infection often occurs due to skin damage, causing nearby lymph node enlargement, accompanied by fever, loss of appetite, dry stools, red urine and other systemic symptoms. Children feel severe paroxysmal itching, especially when it is warm, so they often rub their heads and faces on the pillow or the mother's clothes, or scratch them with their hands, becoming irritable, crying and restless, which often affects their health and sleep. It usually occurs 1-3 months after birth and usually improves and heals within 1-2 years of age. A few may develop into eczema in children.

Once the baby shows symptoms of eczema, the mother will feel helpless, and it is even more heartbreaking to see the baby's cheeks turn red. In addition to seeking medical treatment as soon as possible, there are many eczema creams on the market that specifically treat eczema. Parents should choose carefully because eczema creams are used in different ways for different symptoms. Pay special attention to the following matters:

1. Try to breastfeed. Generally speaking, human milk can easily cause eczema, and in some cases, it can also be caused by breast milk.

2. When adding complementary foods, add them gradually from small amounts to large amounts, so that the child can gradually adapt.

3. If the child is allergic to certain foods, start with a small amount and then slowly increase the amount to allow the child to gradually adapt. When eating eggs, try to eat only the yolk, not the egg white. If necessary, you can choose plant protein foods;

4. Children who have eczema should avoid or reduce the intake of seafood such as fish, shrimp, crab and other irritating foods;

5. Give the child more light, easily digestible food rich in vitamins and minerals, which can regulate the physiological functions of infants and young children and reduce skin allergic reactions;

The above content is helpful to mothers. Raising a baby requires patience and love from mothers, so mothers should not be nervous when facing many health problems of babies. In addition, if the eczema around the baby's mouth is very serious, it is recommended that mothers take the child to a regular hospital for treatment as soon as possible.
