What to do if your child has a recurring high fever

What to do if your child has a recurring high fever

Since children have relatively weak resistance, they often have high fevers. Some children even have repeated high fevers. At this time, parents will often use some folk remedies in addition to seeing a doctor. In fact, this is often not conducive to the child's condition, and it is even more damaging to the baby's immunity. What should we do when a child has repeated high fevers? Let me share with you.

1. When the body temperature is below 38°C, physical cooling is the preferred intervention. Fever is the most common symptom of infectious diseases in children. The treatment of fever can be roughly divided into "physical treatment" and "drug treatment". Generally speaking, when a child's body temperature is below 38°C, there is no need to use drug treatment, but choose the correct physical cooling method. For example, applying a fever-reducing patch, drinking plenty of water, and taking a warm bath can all help lower body temperature.

2. Infants and young children with a body temperature above 38.5°C need drug treatment. If you find that your child's body temperature has exceeded 38.5℃, parents should closely observe the child's condition so as to respond in time. For infants and young children, when their body temperature exceeds 38.5℃, they need to be given drug treatment. For Chinese medicine, you can choose Bupleurum or Antelope Horn, and for Western medicine, you can choose Baifuning, Tylenol or Motrin, etc.

3. If the body temperature is above 39°C, medication should be taken under the guidance of a doctor. When a child's body temperature exceeds 39°C and is considered a high fever, Western medicine treatment is usually chosen. Currently, ibuprofen and paracetamol are commonly used antipyretics in clinical practice. These two types of drugs are relatively safe. But one thing that must be made clear is that parents should use the medication under the guidance of a doctor, especially pay attention to the dosage, and send the baby to the hospital for treatment in time.

4. People who suffer from recurrent colds should use antibiotics with caution during treatment. Because more than 90% of colds are caused by viruses. Antibiotics are ineffective. Sensitive antibiotics should be selected under the guidance of a doctor unless bacterial complications occur. More rest is very necessary during a cold because rest can improve the body's immune ability. Promote recovery from illness.

When a child has repeated high fevers, the first thing to do is to see a doctor as soon as possible and provide targeted treatment according to the baby's condition. In addition, the child should drink more water and pay attention to a light diet and balanced nutrition, which is very beneficial for the treatment of colds. In addition, be careful not to let the baby develop bad habits of being picky about food, which is not conducive to the baby's development. I wish you good health.
