Treatment of burns in children

Treatment of burns in children

Children's physical health is what parents care about most. If there is a problem with the child's body, parents will definitely be very worried and don't know how to deal with it. We recommend that parents should master some methods of caring for children. Once a problem with the child's body is found, it should be dealt with in time to avoid the disease from worsening and making treatment difficult. Burns are a symptom that children are prone to. Below we will introduce the treatment methods for burns in children.

(1) First degree burns

① The injured area should be immersed in cold water immediately for "cooling treatment". If it is immersed in cold water after 5 minutes, it can only have an analgesic effect but cannot guarantee that blisters will not appear, because the residual heat from the burn will continue to damage the skin within 5 minutes. This method has the effects of cooling down, reducing residual heat damage, reducing swelling, relieving pain, and preventing blistering. If ice cubes are available, applying them to the injured area will have better effects. Usually, "cooling down" for about 30 minutes can completely relieve the pain. Then apply egg white, balm or burn ointment to the burned area. It will heal itself in just 3 to 5 days.

② If the burned area cannot be immersed in water for "cooling treatment", you can wrap the injured area with a towel and then pour water on the towel. Applying ice may be more effective.

③ If the burned part is covered with clothes or shoes and socks, do not take off the shoes and socks or clothes on the burned part in a hurry, otherwise the epidermis will fall off along with the shoes and socks and clothes. This is not only painful, but also easy to get infected and prolong the course of the disease. The best way is to immediately use vinegar (vinegar has astringent, pain-relieving, swelling-reducing, bactericidal and analgesic effects) or cold water to pour on the injured area and the surrounding area through clothes or shoes and socks, and then take off shoes and socks or clothes. This can prevent the epidermis from being peeled off, causing edema and infection, while also relieving pain. Then carry out "cooling treatment" and finally apply egg white, balm or burn ointment.

(2) If the burn victim still feels pain and blisters appear on the wound after a certain period of "cooling treatment", this indicates a "second-degree burn". Do not break the blisters at this time, go to the hospital for treatment immediately.

(3) Third degree burns should be immediately bandaged with a clean sheet or simple clothing to avoid contamination and further injury. Do not apply medication to the wound surface. Keep it clean and send to the hospital for treatment immediately.

In the above article, we introduced one of the things that parents are most concerned about, that is, the physical health of children. We recommend that parents and friends take good care of their children's bodies in daily life. The above article introduces the treatment methods for pediatric burns in detail.
