What is the cause of the redness of the urethra of a baby boy?

Parents think that it is easier to take care of a boy than a girl. The vulva of a girl is easily contaminated by feces or other dirt in the external environment, which can cause urethral infection. Similarly, this phenomenon will also occur in boys, but it is less common. The vulva problems that worry parents in boys are mainly manifested in: local redness and swelling of the foreskin, foreign matter retained in the foreskin, blistering of the foreskin during urination, etc.

In fact, according to the physiological characteristics of boys, these are natural developmental processes.

If the baby's foreskin completely covers the glans penis and urethra, this condition is called foreskin being too long. The foreskin can be easily turned back by hand to expose the glans penis.

When you encounter an abnormal round swelling under the foreskin, no intervention is required. Never artificially pull up the baby's foreskin to clean the smegma. Since the foreskin lining has not yet separated from the glans penis in some parts, forcibly pulling the foreskin up can cause avulsion-like injuries in the unseparated parts. It can not only cause boys to experience great pain, but also cause wounds, increasing the risk of infection in the future.

If a serious infection occurs under the foreskin, the foreskin should be manually separated and turned up under local anesthesia. Separating and retracting the foreskin can help drain the accumulated pus. In addition to pus, there will be some smegma. Smegma is a fat-soluble substance and can be dissolved with edible olive oil or medical liquid paraffin before cleaning. After local cleaning, parents should continue to treat their baby with antibiotic ointment for a few days when they return home until the local infection is completely controlled.

When treating at home, parents will also encounter a very difficult problem: the child resists the parents' attempts to pull up his foreskin. Because pulling the foreskin up at this time will be a very painful experience. In order to achieve the best treatment effect, parents should obtain the doctor's consent and use pain-relieving ointment before each medication.

If infection and redness occur, the possibility of urinary tract infection is relatively high. It is recommended to test the urine. If it is inflammation, you can take some antibiotics, such as cefaclor, and drink more water and take some Chinese medicine preparations, such as Sanjin tablets. At the same time, you can use salt water to wash it, and pay attention to let the baby drink more water
