Does musk have any effect on children?

Musk is a substance secreted from the navel of an animal called musk deer. Musk has a special fragrance. It can not only be used to make a spice, but also as a Chinese medicinal material. But everyone should know that pregnant women cannot smell musk, because the special smell contained in musk can irritate pregnant women and cause miscarriage. So will musk have any effect on children?

Musk is the secretion of the glandular sac between the navel and genitals of male musk deer. It is granular or blocky after drying, has a special aroma and bitter taste, can be made into spices, and can also be used as medicine. It is a central nervous system stimulant, and can relieve pain and reduce swelling when applied externally. It is referred to as "musk".

This product is a commonly used Chinese medicine and is listed as a top-grade product in the "Shennong's Herbal Classic". Its original animal is musk deer.

Some of the properties of musk are as follows: [Nature and flavor] Pungent, warm. [Function] Opens the mind, dredges the meridians, reduces swelling and relieves pain.

[Main Indications]

Shock, carbuncle, coma, stroke, phlegm, cold evil, diarrhea, carbuncle, swelling, trauma, etc.

[Dosage]

For oral administration, it can be made into pills or powders, depending on the formula. For external use, there is no fixed amount. [Contraindications] It is contraindicated for people with yin deficiency and weak constitution and pregnant women. Musk is steam distilled to obtain about 1.4% dark brown volatile oil, which is then refined to obtain a colorless viscous oil, called Muskone (C16H30O), which has a unique and strong aroma and is the main component of this product. In addition, it contains fat, resin, protein, inorganic salts, etc.

Therefore, it can be seen that musk only affects pregnant women and fetuses, and has little effect on newborns.

In ancient times, women who were in critical condition with difficult labor would use musk to induce labor, and musk could also be used to promote blood circulation in amenorrhea. Musk can also be used to treat childhood convulsions and fever. There is no so-called research showing that its use will terminate pregnancy. Only large doses of musk can cause uterine contractions, but the doses we are exposed to in our daily lives are safe.

Musk is a very good Chinese medicinal material with good therapeutic effects on many diseases, but because of people's misunderstanding, musk has been burdened with too many bad accusations. The musk we come into contact with in daily life is harmless to women, children and pregnant women, so there is no need to be afraid.
