What to do if your baby has hernia at eight months old

Some children have bad tempers and always cry, which makes them prone to hernia. However, children under one year old do not need treatment. Pay more attention to the baby's posture and try not to let the baby cry. The baby will recover slowly on his own. If the condition is serious, it can be treated with medication or surgery.

1. Conservative treatment mainly includes two types: drug therapy and hernia belt therapy. Drug therapy: It can relieve symptoms such as abdominal distension, abdominal pain, constipation, etc. caused by hernia, thereby reducing the hernia; the disadvantage is that it cannot control hernia prolapse. Commonly used Chinese patent medicines include Hernia Neixiao Pills, Juhe Pills, Buzhong Yiqi Pills, etc.; or grind cinnamon into powder, mix it with vinegar, and wrap it with gauze to apply to the navel. Hernia belt therapy: It can quickly stop the bulging of the hernia, thereby effectively preventing the development of hernia and relieving symptoms such as abdominal distension, abdominal pain, and constipation caused by hernia. The disadvantages are that it is inconvenient to use and cannot cure hernia.

2. Surgical treatment: There are three types of surgical treatments: hernia repair, hernia patch repair, and hernia laparoscopic repair. Hernia belt treatment can be considered for infants and young children under 2 years old. If the condition is not too serious, about 90% of infants and young children can be cured using this method. It is difficult to treat hernia in children because their organs and tissues are very small, and the vas deferens and spermatic artery are very vulnerable to damage. Hernia surgery may affect the patient's future fertility and cause infertility.

To treat hernia, you should avoid lifting, pushing, crying or pulling heavy objects, eat less foods that can cause constipation and abdominal bloating (especially cooked eggs, sweet potatoes, peanuts, beans, etc.), eat more high-fiber foods, including grains, cereals, bran, and unprocessed fruits and vegetables; drink plenty of water, and supplement with probiotics to help prevent constipation; improve resistance, and avoid or reduce sneezing, coughing, etc.
