Girls will have their first menstruation after they turn 13 (some girls earlier), but it is generally still irregular. In the first one or two years, the ovarian function is not yet complete or mature enough to ovulate. At the same time as or slightly after the first menstruation, axillary hair begins to grow, and pubic hair presents a unique female inverted triangle distribution, with the base parallel to the level of the pubic symphysis. Glands in the areola area develop, forming a second bulge on the fuller and enlarged breasts. At the age of 14-15, regular ovulatory menstruation may occur. The breasts are fully developed, with nipples protruding from the clearly defined breasts. At the age of 16-17, development is close to maturity.
