Why can't children wear adult slippers?

Children are always curious about adult things. They wear their mother's skirts and high heels, their father's suits and leather shoes, and occasionally put on makeup. Having a naughty child at home brings both joy and sorrow to parents. However, doctors remind that children may be infected with tinea pedis if they wear adult slippers, and parents of children with tinea pedis should be especially vigilant.

Children wearing adult slippers may get tinea pedis

Doctors found that some children in the outpatient clinic were infected with tinea pedis due to contact with their parents' slippers. It is understood that tinea pedis is a superficial fungal skin disease caused by infections such as Trichophyton rubrum. Superficial fungi use the keratin of human skin as nutrients and like a warm and humid living environment.

Adult skin, especially the palms and soles, has a thick stratum corneum and well-developed sweat glands.

For shallow fungi, this area is rich in nutrients and provides ideal living conditions. Therefore, tinea pedis is a common disease among adults and is easily contagious to others. Tinea pedis is mostly transmitted through contact, such as the patient's shoes and socks, foot towels, bath towels, bathtubs, bedding, etc.

Children's skin is thin and tender, with less keratin

The sweat glands are not yet fully developed, which is not conducive to the growth and reproduction of superficial fungi, and the chance of infection is relatively small, so tinea pedis is not common in children. However, some parents have poor awareness of tinea pedis prevention, which may cause children to be infected.
