What to do if your baby has conjunctivitis?

Everyone knows that conjunctivitis is an eye disease that is very easy to infect. If the resistance is poor or if the child is a child, it is very easy to be infected. Some babies become the largest group of patients. So, what should we do if the baby has conjunctivitis? What should the mother do? Let us pay attention to the treatment steps of conjunctivitis, hoping to help mothers better relieve the pain of their babies!

Specific treatment steps include the following aspects:

1. Pay attention to keeping your eyes clean: Due to the high secretion in the eyes, you can rinse your eyes with saline 2-3 times a day, or gently scrub them with an anti-inflammatory cotton swab. When the secretion decreases, flushing should be stopped, because flushing can dilute the tears, thereby reducing the bactericidal effect of tears and destroying natural resistance.

2. Local drug treatment: Use antibiotic eye drops during the day, every 2-3 hours, or even once every hour, depending on the severity of the disease. Commonly used eye drops include rifampicin, chloramphenicol, and hydroxybenzone. Apply antibiotic eye ointment, such as chloramphenicol, erythromycin, etc. before going to bed at night. Using eye ointment can not only allow the drug to stay in the eye longer and maintain its efficacy, but also prevent the eyelids from being stuck together by secretions.

3. When concurrent viral infection occurs, antiviral eye drops such as acyclovir, herpes clear, etc. should also be used.

4. Continue taking the medicine for about a week after the symptoms disappear to prevent recurrence. The number of times of use can be reduced to 2-3 times a day. As long as it is treated actively, conjunctivitis will not leave any sequelae.

Conjunctivitis in babies generally does not affect their vision, so mothers do not need to worry too much. Once the baby is ill, just clean and treat the baby's eyes. I believe the baby will recover quickly. During the illness, active and thorough treatment methods should be adopted, and treatment should be started immediately until the symptoms disappear completely.
