Prevention of urinary tract infections in children

Urinary tract infection is a common urinary system disease in our human body, and the incidence of urinary tract infection in children is often very high, so the prevention of urinary tract infection in children is very important. However, many parents do not know much about this, which often leads to many children being frequently harmed by urinary tract infections during their growth and development. Urinary tract infections require timely treatment.

Urinary tract infection in children is a common disease that most children are prone to. In general, children with urinary tract infection have many problems with their urination, such as urgency, frequency or pain when urinating, etc. Therefore, it is necessary to make sure that the child has these symptoms before making a judgment. So, in response to this phenomenon, let’s introduce in detail the prevention measures for urinary tract infections in children.

1. Start prevention from the early stages of pregnancy. Pregnant mothers should pay attention to preventing infection, maintaining physical and mental health, and allowing the fetus's urinary organs to develop healthily. If there is less amniotic fluid during pregnancy, you should be alert to abnormalities in the fetal kidney development and have an ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis as soon as possible so that appropriate treatment can be taken.

2. Proper feeding after the baby is born. The baby's kidney function is not yet fully mature and generally reaches adult levels at 1 to 1.5 years old. For babies under 3 months old, it is best not to add salt to their food: after 3 months, they can eat slightly salty food, and after 6 months, gradually increase the amount of salt, but not more than 1 gram per day, so as not to damage the kidney function.

3. Appropriate rehydration during diarrhea. Diarrhea is a common disease in babies under 3 years old. When it occurs, the body is prone to dehydration and needs active rehydration. However, fluid replacement must be carried out reasonably under the guidance of a doctor to avoid dehydration of the body and edema caused by excessive fluid replacement, which may cause unnecessary damage to the urinary tract and induce urinary tract infection.

4. Pay attention to perineal care to avoid urinary tract infection. The baby's urinary tract is prone to infection. The mother must take good care of it, especially pay attention to the cleanliness of the perineum. For babies over one year old, in addition to washing and changing diapers frequently, and cleaning the baby's butt after each urination and defecation, you should also pay attention to the cleaning method, that is, clean the vulva from front to back, and then clean the anus. Baby girls should pay more attention to this. For babies over 1 year old, the vulva should also be cleaned every day. A reminder: when cleaning a boy's vulva, be sure to pull back the foreskin of the penis and wash away the dirt hidden inside. Both boys and girls should wear closed-crotch pants as early as possible.

5. If you have a fever of unknown cause, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible. Congenital malformations of the urinary organs, if diagnosed early and corrected with surgery in time, can reduce the impact on the baby's growth and development. Therefore, when your baby has repeated unexplained fever, you must be alert to whether there is congenital urinary tract malformation and go to the hospital for a routine urine test as soon as possible.

The above five points are about the prevention methods of urinary tract infections in children, and these methods are very effective in preventing urinary tract infections in children. Therefore, in order to prevent our children from being harmed by urinary tract infections during their growth and development, our parents must help our children prevent urinary tract infections and stay away from the harm of urinary tract infections.
