What to do if a child has phimosis?

In daily life, you will see a very interesting phenomenon: that is, baby boys start to love touching and kneading their "little brothers" with their little hands from the time they are over one year old. Some even became red and swollen. Most grown-up boys do not like to be clean, which also leads to the rapid growth of bacteria. These are not good for the growth and development of boys, and some even affect the mental health of boys.

It is particularly important for parents to observe and guide their children to develop good living habits in a timely manner. Not only girls need guidance and care, boys also go through puberty, grow up, and become shy. If a child has a problem, it would be best to discover it in time and treat it early.

Phimosis in children is a common reproductive organ disease in boys. What kind of phimosis needs treatment? If the physiological phimosis of infants and young children is not infected by the glans penis or foreskin and there is no difficulty in urination, they can be observed. Preschool children and children with infections or dysuria who have phimosis can first try foreskin dilation in the outpatient clinic to expose the glans penis and clean out the smegma to avoid recurrence of foreskin adhesion. Surgery can only be considered for those who meet the following conditions:

1. Pathological phimosis with a fibrous narrow ring at the foreskin opening;

2. Those with recurrent balanoposthitis;

3. After school age, the foreskin opening is severely narrowed, the foreskin cannot be retracted to expose the glans penis, and conservative treatment is ineffective. In recent years, with the development of medicine, balloon dilatation is being widely used to treat phimosis. It does not require hospitalization, is simple and convenient, and does not affect children's life and study.

The treatment mechanism is mainly based on the characteristics of children's foreskin, which is thin and soft, does not contain fat tissue and is highly elastic. The use of tracheal dilatation can save most children with phimosis from the pain of surgical treatment. Balloon catheter dilatation is a non-invasive treatment that does not cause bleeding and is minimally painful. Children generally cooperate and accept it. In addition, you should pay attention to local cleaning on a daily basis and keep your underwear soft.

I hope that parents will pay more attention to their children. Dads should take up their responsibilities at this time. For babies, you can make direct judgments. For older boys, you need to help them overcome their shyness, help them make judgments, or guide them to make their own judgments. Early detection and early treatment can greatly alleviate the child’s pain!
