Allergic rash in children

Allergic rash in children

Skin rashes are very serious. If they occur in adults, it is actually no big deal because adults can tolerate it and know what is wrong with them. However, if the rash occurs in children, the children will not only cry and be restless, but may even become panicked because their entire body will be extremely itchy and large areas of redness will make the children feel particularly scared. How should allergic rashes in children be judged and treated?

Basic Information

Type: Disease

System: Dermatology

symptom

The main symptoms are: abdominal pain, crying and restlessness, no vomiting or diarrhea, and flaky rashes all over the body that are higher than the skin and red. The rash is more common on the face and trunk. Accompanied by fever, or dense dotted rash and itching all over the body.

Allergic rash, also known as drug allergy, is an allergic reaction caused by medication. An allergic reaction is an abnormal immune response. A normal immune response results in resistance to pathogens.

When we talk about enhancing immunity, we mean improving the body's resistance to pathogenic microorganisms and abnormal reactions in the body, thereby preventing infectious diseases, maintaining physical condition, and monitoring abnormal conditions in the body (such as cancer) and invading foreign substances from outside the body (such as microorganisms and other foreign proteins), thereby playing a role in preventing and curing diseases.

Therefore, a normal immune response is absolutely necessary to maintain life. When normal immune capacity is severely damaged (such as acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, or AIDS), life cannot be sustained. Abnormal immune response, whether too strong or too weak, is harmful to the body and can cause a series of diseases; this situation caused by drugs is drug allergy.

Causes

There are two necessary factors for the occurrence of allergic rash: allergic constitution and contact with drugs, both of which are indispensable. Allergic constitution is determined by genetics. People with genetic allergic constitution account for about 1/3 of the population or more. These people are prone to allergic diseases such as allergic rhinitis, bronchial asthma, urticaria, eczema, etc.; another factor is exposure to allergenic drugs.

Not all medicines can cause allergic reactions. Drugs that can cause allergic reactions are called sensitizing drugs. Therefore, allergic rashes only occur in people with allergic constitutions and must be caused by medication.

Clinical manifestations

The clinical manifestations of allergic rashes are diverse and may be any type of allergic reaction, but in many cases, it is a combination of multiple allergic reactions.

Drug fever

Fever caused by allergic rash is called drug fever. It is often the earliest manifestation of an allergic rash. Drug fever is different from general infectious fever. Its characteristics are as follows:

1. If it is the first time to use the medicine, fever may occur after a sensitization period of about 10 days; if it is used again, fever may occur quickly because the human body has been sensitized. Drug fever caused by re-use of drugs occurs quickly, so it is easy to associate it with the drug use; however, drug fever caused by the first use of drugs has a long interval, so patients often do not think it is related to the previous use of drugs, or cannot remember the history of drug use at all, which brings certain difficulties to diagnosis.

2. Drug fever is generally a persistent high fever, often reaching 39. C, even 40. C or above. But although the fever was high, the patient's general condition was good, which was out of proportion to the fever;

3. Various antipyretic measures (such as antipyretic drugs) are not effective; but if the allergenic drugs are discontinued, sometimes the body temperature can drop on its own even without taking anti-allergic measures.
